Stuck in the mud? Or how times don't change

Some of the issues in Adventism in the 19teens was A. G. Daniels did not feel that the church was ready for women's ordination and had requested Mrs. White to write some articles to encourage increased women's role in ministry so that the church could become ready to ordain women.

Was hell fire the Baptist/Catholic hell only shortened, or was it the visible glory of God that was heaven to some and burned up others.

People were upset that the doctrine of the trinity had crept into the church, others embraced the doctrine.

People were debating whether inspiration worked like the liberal views that Prescott, Daniels, Willie White, the elderly Mrs. White and Washington Missionary college were teaching, or whether it works like Stephen Haskell said it works or should we follow the views of Elder Washburn and his associates?

100 years later we are still in the same rut. An Adventist from 100 years ago could wake up and feel at home.

And still only a small number of people really understand and embrace righteousness by faith. The majority seem to go into the ditches that exist on either side of the issue.

Until we really accept the reality of righteousness by faith we will stay in the rut, or more likely, deepen the rut even further.

We still argue theology because we're still avoiding fully committing to Jesus Christ and the discipleship He's calling for us to enter.

One of the major lessons I've seen in the NT is that arguments over theology sprang from not fully following Christ and His example. When people were set on excluding others, not loving others, theological disputes arose and they were used to create divisions in the church. When people were dedicated to loving others, dedicated to bringing Jesus to the world, theological disputes disappeared.

Look around here. Are the majority of us here looking at how we can best spread the gospel, or are we here to argue and dispute doctrine? What is the general direction of this site? Is it discussion to learn and improve how we can best fulful the mission God has given us, or is to divide and conquer by theology?

To me it's pretty plain which direction we are going.

I solidly agree to the spreading and instilling with all the tact that we have, the TRUE gospel and not the false that is now almost universal.

The wonderful good news of salvation, saved from sin and not in it. Forgiven and pardoned for the past sins and given power over continuing in it.

A wonderful message of victory we and all must have.
