Clio Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Philippians 4... the entire chapter. When WE walk in the center of Abba's Will for our lives there is the perfect peace that passes all understanding. HE is in control and has only our best interests in mind. The message of True Jesus brings redemption or destruction. True Jesus was a radical. He overthrew a 5000 year old religious system in favor of something better. He is the Prince of Peace, Almight God, Counselor, Wonderful, Emmanuel, God with Us. And those are just some of His titles. It may not always be easy, but when I need to know His will, I always wait till I have True Jesus peace in my "knowing" place. So yeah... both references are true. If you follow Him, He brings peace into your life, if you reject placing yourself fully under His control, then your life is filled with contentiousness, strife, anger, etc. Look around. Observe those filled with strife, angry words, sarcsasm, and contention. Look at the fruit in their lives and ask yourself whether they exhibit the peace that passes all understanding, or if the JOY of the Lord seems to be about them. ok... now I gotta go do some self-examination... You don't have to have happiness or quiet to have peace. John the Baptist must have had peace even though he lost his head. Having peace doesn't mean always flowers. Quote

However I would like to suggest most individuals need more than to be assured they are in the center of our Father's will to find peace, as all are somewhat (or maybe more than somewhat) off-center. So it would seem peace depends more on Father's kind intent for us than whether or not we are walking in the center of His will. Peace can have several meanings - peace with others (no quarrels), peace within (no worries ). When Jesus said "I did not come to bring peace", He was talking about difficult relationships and unacceptance disciples would meet. Yet He promised to the followers that relationship with God gives them overwhelming inner peace - having purpose and meaning of life, having love from and for God. This is the kind of peace God wants to give everyone, not necessarily smooth relationships - we have to wait heaven for that. Quote
