Dr. Shane Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 After watching the remake of D-Day in the movie Private Ryan I think a lot of us started to think using the A-bomb on Japan was not such a bad thing. Many of the soldiers that had to go through D-Day were being prepared to ship to the Pacific for the invasion of Japan. It was believed the invasion of Japan was going to be even bloodier that D-Day. When dynamite was invented it was thought it would bring an end to war. It was believed that with such a powerful weapon no one would dare go to war again. Hmmmm, well that didn't work. One would have hoped that nuclear bombs would have stopped wars. I can't think of two nuclear powers that have fought each other since nuclear weapons were invented so maybe the mere existance of nuclear weapons has prevented wars that we are not even aware of.
