Ellen White expressed this well: “there is a necessity for meditation and reflection and earnest prayer” Manuscript 19a, 1886. {CTr 80.5} Christians should . . . cultivate a love for meditation, and cherish a spirit of devotion. Many seem to begrudge moments spent in meditation, and the searching of the Scriptures, and prayer, as though the time thus occupied was lost. I wish you could all view these things in the light God would have you; for you would then make the kingdom of Heaven of the first importance. To keep your heart in Heaven, will give vigor to all your graces, and put life into all your duties. To discipline the mind to dwell upon heavenly things, will put life and earnestness into all our endeavors. {OFC 23.2} “Christians should be careful that they keep the heart with all diligence. True believers from all times have included meditiation on Christ (especially His crucifixion and resurrection), and on scripture ("the law") as part of a successful and victorious spiritual life. I do not include here the mystical eastern practice of TM (i.e., emptying the mind). Quote

Good meditation is meditating on Jesus Christ, His life, His death, His love for us. Bad meditation is opening our minds to whatever comes by_us/to_us. Before I'll agree with you I'd need to what the idea of meditation expressed by Ellen White means to you. There have from earliest times been those who practise other methods of meditation, but there ARE other, non-SDA believers who practised the same as how we understand the Bible promotes. I really liked Oswald Chamber's book, Christian Disciplines. His book on Christian Psychology, though, not so much. You need to know what the Bible says when you go through any author's writings. You bolded only the words about meditation, and didn't bold the words about meditating on Christ, His life, etc.... So, what exactly did you mean by that?
