LifeHiscost Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 If he did have it, is his rejection from the courts of heaven evidence that "once saved" does not always mean "never lost". And can his experience of personally rejecting our Father, equate across the board with our experience, when he stood in perfect light while we are often stumbling because of spiritual blindness. Stan Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Do Angels have imortality? Are they capable of death? Does only God have immortality?? I just expected angels to be immortal never really thought about it. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 9, 2005 Moderators Posted August 9, 2005 In the Bible, "eternal life" has two aspects: a) A quality. A quantity. Yes, individuals in heaven have ethernal life, in both aspects. But, that possession of eternal life is not inherent in them, but derived from their relationship to God. Quote Gregory
Robert Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Quote: Stan Jensen said: Do Angels have immortality? Are they capable of death? Does only God have immortality?? I'm not sure, but I would say angels have "conditional" immortality...but maybe not because the Bible says that iniquity will not arise a second time. The bottom line is that all life comes from God....As long as the angels in heaven have God they have eternal life. Believers have eternal life only by faith....We receive eternal life in reality when we are changed....Until then we have it as a promise only. My thoughts, Rob Quote

Moderators Gerr Posted August 10, 2005 Moderators Posted August 10, 2005 God ALONE has immortality, 1 Tim 6:16. Everything else IS perishable. Any immortality that any creature has is totally dependent on one's relationship with the One who alone has immortality. Gerry Quote
Yong T Tay Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 There are two and only two individual beings who have immortality. They are God the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath He given to the Son to have life in himself." John 5:26. All creatures are totally dependent on God the Father for eternal life. All redeemed human beings are totally dependent on the Son of God for eternal life. "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:11-12. Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted August 11, 2005 Moderators Posted August 11, 2005 We can think of eternal life as stretching off in two directions. If we believe and are saved, we have eternity before us in the 'forward' direction of time, but we all had a starting point when we were born, so we don't have eternal life 'backward' - we are not eternal. If angels are created beings, they're in the same boat as us - their timeline is potentially infinitely long forward, but not backward. God, on the other hand, is genuinely eternal: he had no creator and no time of creation. In that sense, Lucifer is in just the same situation as us - conditional immortality, conditional on God's grace. If Lucifer repented now, could he be saved? I believe so. God's grace, love and favour is eternal. It's all Lucifer's choice... and even he hasn't gone so far that he can't be forgiven. Quote Truth is important

Clio Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Erhm... I do think (and agree with Gerry) that machinating the crucifixion of the Only Begotten Son, of the Most High Abba Father God, in Whom HE is well pleased, in full and COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT HE WAS DOING... might have just been the final straw. I do not think Lucifer can be forgiven. Not even were he to repent. I think he may have committed the unpardonable sin there.... Of course... it's all probably moot anyway. Sin that is wallowed in, cherished, changes the character. I do not think Lucifer is capable of repenting. And Lucifer has been wallowing in his hatred and defiance for a very long time. I feel sorry for Lucifer. He's gotta be sooo unhappy. I know what it's like to wallow in hatred. I did for 5 years. It's a tearing at your very vitals, it consumes you, it colors every waking thought, and steals the joy you might have found in anything else. You scheme, plan, shriek in frustration. How Lucifer must have gnashed his teeth at the empty tomb! Lucifer is a created being. No created being is EVER going to defeat their Creator. The plan of salvation was never for Lucifer, who was never deceived. The plan of salvation is to redeem a world lost through deception, to prove, once and for all eternity that Lucifer lied, and Abba Father truly is Love, personified in True Jesus. Thank YOU Jesus.
