Stan Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Administrators Naomi Posted May 23, 2013 Administrators Posted May 23, 2013 Yes, one of the most precious promises in the Bible. Amazing that you posted it today ... has been my montra for the past couple of weeks. Thank you Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Administrators Gail Posted May 23, 2013 Administrators Posted May 23, 2013 Did you recite that from memory? It is one of the most basic, wonderful contemplations I know of in the Bible. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
cricket Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I remember teaching this to my Pathfinder club via song! It came in handy a couple of weeks ago when I went to a Episcopalian funeral service and it was part of the recitation program. I arrived late and didn't have the program in my hand. So, scripture memory to the rescue! (It was difficult to not sing it aloud, however.) Quote
joeb Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I really like Psalm 23, but Psalm 40 is even more meaningful for me. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville

Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
joeb Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Yeah. I haven't for a while, but I used to memorize a lot of it. Not by intention really, but just because when I was younger, and my health was a lot better, my memory was very good. After reading a text a time or two I had it memorized.
