Just got back from 2 weeks in Norway

Just got back from a Christmas/Birthday present from my son of two weeks in Norway. We explored Oslo, including the neighborhood where my Grandmother grew up. Went over to Carlstad Sweden. My Grandmother's mother was from that province and here dad was a sea captain who died in a shipwreck (He was a very godly man and when they found his body his hands were folded in prayer. This had a big effect on my Great-Grandmother and her sister causing them to dedicate their life to Jesus and to share the love that their father gave them, which of course effected my Grandma and mom and myself).

Next to visit relatives in Hamar and go up to the area where my Grandmother's father came from, the farm he grew up on and took his last name from. And another farm near by that his family had also worked on before they went to the one he was born on then grew up on and where his father and elder brother took his last name from. It was rainy and the creeks were full of rushing water and up on the hillside, what is normally a bit of a creek was a large waterfall going around trees.

We also visited the Alf Proysen museum. So many of the Norwegian songs I've come to love I have since learned were by him. And they had a paper factory which was one of Norway's 2 largest factories between Oslo and Trondheim. Someone made a play about the factory that they perform inside of it. I was disappointed that there was not a public showing of the play (I saw it 6 years ago and wanted my son to see it.) that evening our cousin said he had a surprise for us and took us there. It turns out a company had hired for a private showing for their workers and one of the museum workers said that there would be extra seats and invited us to come and see it!

Then a couple days with family in Rakkestad where my Grandfather was from. A couple more days in Oslo with some other cousins then back home.

Did you see that park in Oslo with all the pornographic sculptures? [i can't recall its name right now.]

Also.... my DH and I visited Lillehammer; it was just a few months prior to the Olympics which was held in Lillehammer. The whole town was preparing for the big event when we were there.

I love Norway. Another highlight for us was visiting Grieg's home, and actually being in his home, sitting at his grand piano; and also walking down the small hill to his hideaway cabin nearby to his home, where he did his composing.
