Stan Posted October 26, 2002 Posted October 26, 2002 Mabel Richards, the wife of H.M.S. Richards, Sr., died Friday evening shortly after she went to sleep around 8 p.m. Funeral arrangements are pending. She celebrated her 103rd birthday this past August 15. H.M.S. Richards, Sr., was founder of the Voice of Prophecy and pioneer in broadcasting. Voice of Prophecy, the Adventist Church's oldest continuously broadcast religious radio program, started in a chicken coop in 1929. It began coast-to-coast broadcasting more than 60 years ago. Elder Richards and his son, Harold Richards, Jr., served as speaker/directors of the ministry until the early 1990s. Lonnie Melashenko has been speaker/director since that time. An obituary and further details of the funeral will be posted on the Voice of Prophecy website as soon as they are confirmed. <www.vop.com> Kermit Netteburg Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
kulitea Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 When i read that Mable passed away it bought memories that I have not thought of for many years. I knew the Richards thru my father who sang for the Tongan VOP for many years. When the Richards would come to Hawaii with the Kings Hearld they would always be at our house, so we got to know them. Sorry to hear that she passed away, but we know that we will meet them again. Quote Come unto Me all that labor and heavy burden...and you will find rest to your soul
Ellen Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Welcome Kulitea I have a special place for the Richards because they were married at the corner of our street in Oshawa, Harmony Road and King Street. The building is gone now but Elder Richards would refer to it whenever he visited Oshawa. So many of our older people are gone now. I just heard of Lionel Reim's funeral today. My son was a pall bearer. He was a faithful member of the Willowdale Church. He was 90, a father of 3 lovely "children". It happens that he and his wife bought our house when we moved from Toronto. liketowrite Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Behind every great man there is almost always a great woman. God has granted his servant rest and now she who labored with him has gone to her rest. How many more must rest before the Lord's return? How far from home? TC Quote
