Dottie Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Took me a couple of seconds, but I wouldn't have known it if I wasn't married to an engineer! Quote
Amelia Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Is that even mathematically correct? Moderators Bravus Posted February 28, 2012 Moderators Posted February 28, 2012 Yep (mathphobes look away now!) tan b is defined is sin b/cos b. The inverse of that, 1/tan b = cos b/sin b. The equation in the image is sin b/tan b, but that can also be written as sin b times 1/tan b, which is sin b times cos b/sin b. Now the sin b on the top line cancels with the sin b on the bottom line, leaving only... Bill! Quote Truth is important
Amelia Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Well he also goes by "The Cos" so I guess that works.
