olger Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Has many good things to say to the world. A couple of them: * Not going to war. * Family values. * Hard work (could use more of that). * Men & women each accepting their role (we could use a reminder of that too). * Not getting enamored with secondary education. Secondary education is doing more harm than good in my opinion. We need people who have a simple faith and the willingness to follow it. We could learn a lot from these good people - and they could learn a few things from us too. Go and do the right thing, `G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Stewart (SDA) Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Olger, it does seem that the Anabaptists have a negative side to them as well. You note that among their teachings is "not going to war." But according to the Church histories I have (Mosheim and Neander), the Anabaptists have repeatedly called for war. Quote
olger Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 Not the Amish, most Mennonites and German Baptist Brethren and Dunkard Brethren. Indeed not. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

olger Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 What branch of Mennonites? And do they try to shoot down the planes and pull their buggies onto the runway in a show of solidarity? Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Administrators Gail Posted July 6, 2013 Administrators Posted July 6, 2013 I'm sorry but I don't know which branch. But our area is heavily populated with Mennonites. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
joeb Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 In this town the Mennonites protest the annual airshow How do you make a show out of air? You can't even see it, or at least, I can't. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
joeb Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 My old man used to sell petroleum products to the Mennonites to use on their farms back in the late 50's and early 60's. He had nothing but good to say about them. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
olger Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Yes, generally very good people. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

joeb Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Very nice looking group of young people. Where was that picture taken? It doesn't look like Olger is going to answer. My guess is that it's a "stock photo" of Mennonites. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
olger Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Very nice looking group of young people. Where was that picture taken? They are Pennsylvania Mennonites who went to NYC to sing to the people there in 2006. Sorry it took so long to answer - been very busy! blessings `G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
