That made me think of this example. “Cancun talks start with a call to the gods” (Washington Post). December 6th, 2010 - Cancun Mexico. United Nations Climate Change Conference. Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, prayed to the the ancient jaguar goddess Lxchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also "the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you -- because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools.“ "Excellencies, the goddess Ixchel would probably tell you that a tapestry is the result of the skilful interlacing of many threads," said Figueres, who hails from Costa Rica and started her greetings in Spanish before switching to English. "I am convinced that 20 years from now, we will admire the policy tapestry that you have woven together and think back fondly to Cancun and the inspiration of Ixchel." It was the goal of this conference to press all countries to submit to the UN CO2 emission guidelines. This brings me to another illustration of Satan's counterfeits. On display at the 2010 Cancun meeting was a copy of the Earth Charter document - a document that Mikhail Gorbachev has referred to as "a kind of Ten Commandments." Yes they are. Listen. * International Treaty for building a “just, sustainable” global society. * “Global interdependence.” (code language for socialist collective where individual rights are diminished, and the power of the state is elevated. * Has been endorsed by over 4500 organizations from around the world, and many governments. * Currently “soft law.” Morally binding for states that adopt it. * Forms the basis for development of “hard law” (legally binding). * Calls on all people to embrace new “global ethic.” * Translated into 58 langauges. The 2400-word Earth Charter Document (originally written in 1992 - but recently refined) was hand-written on special papyrus. Where is it kept? In a special wooden ark, crafted from a single piece of sycamore maple from a “sustainable forest in Germany.” It is called the Ark of Hope. Picture attached. The goal is to take this Ark of Hope around to each country as a "blessing." Inside the Ark is the Earth Chart document and over 300 hand crafted books of “prayers” and images of affirmation for the earth – called the Temenos Books. The Ark was floated down the Hudson River into New York City on a boat originally owned by Pete Seeger. It was carried by women as the new age counterpart of the Levites. If someone wants to mimic the supposed style of an ancient Jewish chest, I don't see any issue. As far as Ixchel goes, I wasn't too terribly interested in Mayan deities. Brighid, or Baal, since they are false Gods (Psalms 4:2; Jeremiah 16:19; Amos 2:4) and false gods are no gods at all (Jeremiah 2:11; 16:20). Never saw him there, tho. `G Well, in reality Loki's place as a God or not is an oft debated subject, but thats not really relevant here. What is relevant is Loki's character traits. Now Loki is the kind of being that likes to cause trouble. But he likes doing it with a smile and a laugh and a pat on the back that he will later stick a knife into. The kind of being that likes to stir up the pot, then cry righteous indignation when someone calls him out on it. He was just trying to help! He was just trying to set someone on the right path! How dare anyone call him out for the pain, suffering and cruelty that was involved? The kind of being that would warn "Don't feed the bears" while tossing them a steak and then blaming others for the fact that his hand got chomped on. The kind of being that likes to goad others into a fight then sit back and enjoy the fall out, if he was on a message board he would probably do that by posting really juvenile cartoons or one word comments - ya know just to keep the fires of discontent and anger burning......... Come to think of it..... he reminds me of someone.... Quote
