Speaking as a man of at least one generation back, so am I,...you know, what you said. OTOH it really won't help solve the reality of what started from the beginning.

"Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”

That doesn't stop men who follow Jesus from doing all they can from trying to make it easier for their helpmate or other females, but the threat of the prince of darkness will remain until Jesus returns.

Here's a fun little story. Perhaps you've heard it?

“Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up. As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean. He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"

The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean."

"I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.

I've had the same thought myself, and to put it simply, they will be rewarded for their faithful service.

And for those who have a more modest opinion of themselves, according to God's grace, they also have hope.

"He will not always strive with us,

I have found the second text more comforting for my own sense of eternal welfare since I've found it all too easy to place myself in the position of being indispensable for God to work out His plans for others, especially when I reflect on how many time I've failed in doing my best toward that end.

The point that olger is making, as I see it anyway, is that men are not what they used to be.

Most men are a shadow of what they should be as a man.

John Wayne's CHARCTER is somewhat of a model of the rough tuff, yet honest, respectful, providing, helpful person that a man should be. In that video, you can clearly see the differences in a man and a woman in a million respects.

A man is supposed to represent Jesus to the household as Jesus is to the church, and it seems that we have fallen farther and farther away from what a man should be.

In general, the men of 40 years ago were better men... or 53 years ago... you don't have to get technical to get the point.

Those men running with that lady and the one who knocked that old guy away, those were some men of good quality... we are running short on those kind of men today. Sure, they'll talk women's equality but would one of them knock that dude off of her today??... I doubt it.

Still, I can't help but feel a "little" sorry for the old guy trying to stop her...look at that face, it's all he can do to keep up. LOL

Anyway, that's what olger's post meant to me.

In general, the men of 40 years ago were no better men than are the men today. I don't have to get technical, but in general, my statement is true. There are men today who are better than men 40 years ago. There are men from 40 years ago who are better than men today.

The original video depicts the first woman who was in the Boston Marathon 40 years ago. The sponsor of the Boston Marathon literally ran after her, grabbed at her clothing to rip off her identifying number, because he was so incensed that a woman dared enter a "male" running marathon.

The whole point of the video was the fact that [most] men nowadays are very much accepting of women entering areas previously dominated by men.

Women aren't trying to become men by leading companies, becoming scientists and physicians, becoming mathematicians and chemists, or by being pastors.

It seems to me that the "good ol' boys" mentality is trying to use God as means of keeping women in "their place." Quoting scripture, giving subjective meaning to the quote, then stating that God would agree with them.

That is what I understood you to mean and I thought that you did an excellent job of expressing your opinion.

That Andy Griffith show brought back a lot of old memories. First time in a long time I remembered thinking about how simple and pleasant society in America use to be as compared to now. Thanks a bunch, Og.

Also brought tears to my eyes when I saw the young kids pledging allegiance to the flag before starting their classes. They used the terminology, "under God", which has more or less disappeared from public institutions, in deference to the religious who don't see the Creator God as of any important significance.
