Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 24, 2013 Members Posted July 24, 2013 RE: Question of Whether Pope's Brother is an Adventist: Quote: Dear Family and Friends, Perhaps you have received emails as I have of a pastor delivering a sermon in Spanish with English captions stating that the new Pope has a brother who is an Adventist. He goes on from there with other sensational statements. I've done some research and so has the GC Communications Department. Both investigations have come up with the same response: There is no truth to these rumors! Such sensational sermons and rumors only make truth more difficult to teach or share. Should you have further questions you may contact Garrett Caldwell, Associate Communications Director at the General Conference (CaldwellG@gc.adventist.org). Larry R Evans Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Textus Receptus Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I think it would be more prudent to state that at this time, the rumor can not be substantiated rather than "there is no truth". Personally, I think it was irresponsible for the pastor to use the pulpit to relay unsubstantiated information. It is very diffrent when people make speculations based on evidence than to just provide information based on hersey. Time setting is a dangerous game we shouldn't play. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 24, 2013 Author Members Posted July 24, 2013 I wasn't doing any "time setting." I was posting the notice from the GC that was sent to me. If anyone wishes to ignore it, feel free. But why cast doubts of credibility on the research? Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. BobRyan Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 there has been an investigation into his family etc, I posted that in another thread. The sensationalist Pastor, is a defrocked Adventist Pastor for a number of reasons. I am curious about the investigation that found that the now deceased Oscar Adrian brother of Francis did not become an SDA. Does anyone have info on that? The reason I ask is because Oscar would not have been much of an interest to people like the BRI prior to Francis being elected Pope - and I think Ocar has passed away by then. So who would have confirmed or denied it? http://www.sharingfaith.org/belief/pope-...entist-brother/ Certainly I don't know the Pope's family - so I couldn't say one way or the other. All I know is that Francis and his sister are the only two surviving children in that family. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin."
