Paul Beach Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Miracle Whip or Mayo? Your thoughts please. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted September 17, 2005 Moderators Posted September 17, 2005 On another forum I attend, when the political discussion starts to get too heated, people have started switching to a condiments discussion, because that tends to be even more heated (especially for lovers of Tabasco), but perhaps with less potential for harm - saucier, less filling. So I call 'Ketchup'! What the...? Nortamerika has corrupted me! I meant 'tomato sauce', of course of course! Quote Truth is important
Derrell M Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Ahhh yes, condiments make a wonderful distraction, although habanero sauce is far preferable to Tabasco. Aussies call Ketchup "tomato sauce?" Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted September 17, 2005 Moderators Posted September 17, 2005 Yeah, pretty much - although it's a slightly different substance: tomato sauce has less apples (!) than ketchup. By the way, that would be pronounced 'tom-ah-do source' not 'tom-ayda soss'! <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted September 17, 2005 Moderators Posted September 17, 2005 BTW, isn't Mayo pretty much a list of 'thou-shalt-nots' in terms of EGW's health advice? Quote Truth is important
Derrell M Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Would 'habanero soss' be pronounced 'heebuh-nehro source'? Quote
Derrell M Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Quote: BTW, isn't Mayo pretty much a list of 'thou-shalt-nots' in terms of EGW's health advice? Huh? Never heard that one before... but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm guessing it contains vinegar. But, then so does 'toh-mah-doh source' (ketchup) Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted September 17, 2005 Moderators Posted September 17, 2005 http://www.hugs.org/Mayonnaise.shtml Oil, eggs, pepper, vinegar - and pretty much all storebought mayos are loaded with sugar too... tsk, tsk... Neil D Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Um...From the lable of my "Best Foods real mayonnaise" Ingredients: soybean oil, water, whole eggs and egg yolks, vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice, calcium disodium EDTA (used to protect qualtiy), natural flavors... It's healthy, as I said...It's got lemon juice in it! And that makes it alllllll right... Derrell M Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Praise Moses! Forget the lemon juice, mayo is primarily a SOY product. Hallelujah, and spread it on the Numete. It is officially SDA. Quote

Dr. Shane Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 We use fat free Miracle Whip. In the small quantity that is used on a sandwich I can't see that it would have much of an impact on one's health. Now hamburgers is quite a different story. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Derrell M Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Yes, I second that question. What do you call real tomato sauce? Quote
Ron Lambert Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 OK, I've got to tell my mayo joke again. (Actually I first heard it from my brother.) Amid the great tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic, it is often lost on Americans that a second tragedy less well known occured. The Titanic, after it was supposed to dock at New York, was supposed to go on around the east coast and head down and across the Carribbean and Gulf of Mexico to Cancun, where it was to deliver a large consignment of mayonnaise. The Mexicans had really been looking forward to this; they were getting so tired of only having salsa to spread on their sandwhiches. So when the Titanic sank, it was a terrible tragedy to them. To this day they commemorate the day. It is called, "Sinko de Mayo." Quote
Paul Beach Posted September 19, 2005 Author Posted September 19, 2005 Thanks Ron. That joke took up more of Mrs. Gray's mental disk space than she could afford to sacrifice. Sincerely, Mrs. Gray Quote
Administrators Gail Posted September 19, 2005 Administrators Posted September 19, 2005 I LOVE habanero sauce! Ours is from Central America and much tastier than either Tabasco or some stuff that I received from a relative in AZ Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Derrell M Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Oh, Yes! If you are talking about Marie Sharp's habanero sauce from Belize... that is without question the best. (And no, I don't own stock in the company.) Quote
Administrators Gail Posted September 19, 2005 Administrators Posted September 19, 2005 Yes, it is Marie Sharp's. Is there anywhere else that I can get that stuff? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Derrell M Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I get mine at Super Wal-Mart, and I have also seen it in various other large grocery stores. I don't know if they have a Super Wal-Mart in Abbotsford, but maybe there is one in Bellingham. I should think that stores like Overweightea's (not sure if I spelled that right) would carry it. I haven't been in that area in quite some time. (For those who think that is a store for overweight people, its not. Its a big Canadian grocery super market chain that used to sell tea. Their claim to fame was that they always gave you more than you paid for. Therefore, Over-weight-tea.) Quote

Thanks for the clarification... I have enough self depreciating comments for the Over-weight-ties ...Not that I am ever going to use them...
