Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 4, 2013 Members Posted August 4, 2013 ...the travails of owning a home with the old siding from L-P... I had to get the back of my home re-sided...but am REALLY glad it was done! The siding was disintegrating and (unfortunately) the foundational wood was affected and had to be replaced as well. At the end of the video you can hear my voice ... Scout is on the deck and I tell him, "Hi!!" Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. cricket Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Nice siding! Beautiful dog! Pleasant voice! Though it's just a snippet, you sound a lot like one of my friends from Kansas City! Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 4, 2013 Author Members Posted August 4, 2013 thanks Chris! My grandma told me I sound like my mom and her sisters. I still need to paint the siding. At least it's all primed and caulked. I'll have to get the north side of the house re-sided, too. When the workers pulled off the trim on the NE end, the adjacent north side was deteriorated too. They cleaned it out and put a temporary piece of 3/4 inch plywood over the area, caulked it really well, and I gave it a heavy coat of white primer. The crew was Russian. They were master builders in Europe, and after immigrating to America, they got their builder's licenses and started up a new company. Excellent work!!! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 4, 2013 Author Members Posted August 4, 2013 nope...it's HardiPlank... thicker, stronger, and will last far longer than wood :) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. olger Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 HardiPanel, you mean. HardiPlank is a horizontal siding. As to thickness, Hardipanel is about 5/16" as I recall and T1-11 is 5/8" to 3/4". HardiPanel will last longer than wood - good durable product. I'd say you made a good choice. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 5, 2013 Author Members Posted August 5, 2013 the fellow who gave me the estimate wrote down "vertical hardiplank" ... he had explained that the vertical type of hardiboard was special-ordered. I'd only heard of "Hardiplank" previously, but "Hardipanel" is the correct name of the siding that was used.. not quite sure why there should be an issue on the brand name of siding that was used.. at any rate, I'm glad it's done (except for the painting)...
