Ted Oplinger Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 It may appear stupid for the perps not to erase the tape...but it could well be those recorders may well not have an erase feature - by law. Further, it may well be law they record every stop they make. There could also be time stamps matching corresponding time stamps back in the office. Good or bad, it becomes part of the record. What these deputies should not have done was pursue the stop once they radio'd the driver's name in. The county sheriff should have posted to his deputies a big warning flag not to engage the gentleman for anything other than a legitimate stop, having tangled with - and lost to - this man before.
