Our first cat was "adopted" (actually, found in the wild) when we were camping in SE Oklahoma some 26 years ago. Turned out to be a real gentle cat, but he did have his priorities at 6 AM, regardless if we were ready to start the day at that time or not, and was quite effective in getting one of us up to take of those priorities... Including yowling, tugging at exposed arms/legs, or his favorite...laying down on our chest with his paws just over the edge of the covers, then start purring and flexing his claws, alternating left and right paws. I let them out when I get up for work, but it's Daddy who feeds them. When they come back into the house they crawl back onto the chairs and curl back up, but they watch me with half-opened eyes. When Daddy gets up it's game over. All he has to say is, "Dog food?" And they bark for joy and their bodies make happy movements. But you have to admit that the kids, cats and dogs that wake their daddies up are all happy to be with their daddies. That is heart-warming! Ahh...every person who's had cats become part of the household knows that humans NEVER adopt or own cats...it's the cat doing the adopting as the master of the house.... Dogs, on the other hand...well, I just wish I was exactly the kind of person my dogs always assume I am! Blessings! That's what I miss about a dog. A dog aims to please. There's no doubt as to who the master is. Quote
