Administrators Gail Posted August 18, 2013 Administrators Posted August 18, 2013 Quote from Abraham Lincoln: Quote: Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. Do you agree? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 18, 2013 Members Posted August 18, 2013 the quote reminds me of a book, "Happiness is a Choice".... I didn't like it, because it put the onus of depression and other moods squarely on the individual. I really disagree with that type of theory. If, on the other hand, Lincoln meant to "look on the bright side" of life, and try not to dwell on the bad stuff, then I could agree with it... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted August 18, 2013 Author Administrators Posted August 18, 2013 I like Lincoln thoughts. I have read that he suffered much from depression, but I gather from his wisdom that he spent many an hour introspectively. Whether I agree wholeheartedly with this one I am not sure yet. Still pondering. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

LifeHiscost Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Quote from Abraham Lincoln: Quote: Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. Do you agree? Seems the apostle Paul felt that way, with some emphasis on other things to put it in balance for the world we live in. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8 KJV The gist of that particular text rest in the first Word, finally. God cares! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
