LifeHiscost Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Is it possible to have sins to our body, that are not sins to our God? By definition from the Bible, sin meaning transgression of the ten commandments, I'm not sure how that could be possible since anything antagonistic against something or someone that doesn't reflect that criteria wouldn't be classified as sin. Ted Oplinger Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Hmmmm....are we referring to 1 John 5:16, 17? Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan
Gibs Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 There no doubt is small things a sin we each may be doing as we have not reached full sanctification. But we must grow to overcome all things not of Him. I think a verse further than Ted gave us in 1 Joh 5:18 should tell us, 1Jo 5:18 ¶ We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. We've all been perverted in ways and they are not all overcome at once. Take the man who has always sworn a lot, it takes some time and perseverance before that don't keep slipping out of his mouth. It is fearful to take His name in vain and ask Him to damn something for you. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
joeb Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Is it possible to have sins to our body, that are not sins to our God? I don't understand what you're trying to ask. What do you mean by "sins to our body"? Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
Administrators Gail Posted August 19, 2013 Administrators Posted August 19, 2013 Yes, there is a place that says that. Let's see if I can find it. Wasn't able to find it yet, but I know there is one. I'm pretty sure it has to do with sexual sin Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 19, 2013 Administrators Posted August 19, 2013 I don't know about it not being a sin to God, though. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 19, 2013 Administrators Posted August 19, 2013 Could be in the sense of say, coffee consumption or something Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 19, 2013 Administrators Posted August 19, 2013 1 Corinthians 6:18, and it has to do with immorality Is this what you are referring to? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
joeb Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Could be in the sense of say, coffee consumption or something Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
Administrators Gail Posted August 19, 2013 Administrators Posted August 19, 2013 That is why I asked for clarification, before I jumped. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
joeb Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 That is why I asked for clarification, before I jumped. That's why I began my sentence with, If that's what Stan means.... I'm really unsure because I can't remember anyone ever using the "sins to the body" phrase before. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
8thdaypriest Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. Soooooo, let's say there is a man who has never heard the health message. He doesn't KNOW that pork is bad, or rabbit, or etc. etc. etc. He doesn't know. "If you were blind, you would have not sin." Quote 8thdaypriest
8thdaypriest Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Stan, By "body" do you mean the body of a person, or do you mean "the church the LORD's body" ? Because one could "sin" ignorantly against "the body of Christ" too. Quote 8thdaypriest
