Administrators Naomi Posted August 20, 2013 Administrators Posted August 20, 2013 .... of the Big G (God) and little g (god) theology? Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
M. T. Cross Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 My understanding of it is the fathers of Abrahamic religions using a literary tactic to place their gods above non Abrahamic Gods in an act of contempt and disrespect. Quote
Gustave Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 .... of the Big G (God) and little g (god) theology? In the Theology of Ellen White and her religious contemporaries... ...God the Father is identified as eternally being beyond corruption, failure, etc. ...The source of all life & matter in the multiverse, eternal in an absolute sense. Christ was understood to be "mutable" ( capable of mutation ) or "peccable" just like Lucifer... ...Christ "could have sinned, failed & been eternally annihilated" by "God". ...I.E. Big God ( The Father ) & little god, or as Ellen taught, "conditional god" Michael the archangel. Quote

LifeHiscost Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Quote: an act of contempt and disrespect. That sense actually comes down to, "I believe in god X and you disrespect me for believing in god x", which is totally untrue as the Creator God loves all humanity, even those who hate Him. If He didn't love them He wouldn't be so patient as to have given them somewhere around 6,000 years to find Him, allowing their disbelief to bring the multiplied woes on earth that wouldn't have existed were it not for believing in the gods who claim more than is Divinely planned and brought to pass. "The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God."Psalm 14:2 NLT "As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one. No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God. All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right, not even one!"Romans 3:10-12 AMP brackets theirs LHC So we're essentially all in the same boat, and as it was in the day of Noah, only those who enter the boat God provides will go through the storm protected by what He provides. All we need do is ask. "Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you."Matthew 7:7 NLT brackets theirs LHC God cares! Why do you think that because people worship Gods other than yours that it means they hate your Gods? What it comes down to is that in a move mostly based on politics, power and greed, the early followers of the Biblical Gods needed to have them be more powerful and almighty than any other. They showed a contempt and disrespect to those Gods and their followers. Now in answer to my own question, this of course breeds contempt and disrespect right back. But you know, there are always reasonable people that just find what they need spiritually in other Gods and thats it. Its like getting married. You date various people, eventually you find the one that you click with. Doesn't mean you hate, don't believe in or disrespect every other person out there. It just means that the person you married met your needs as you met theirs. Quote

JoeMo Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I fail to see how answering the posts of a pagan with Bible verses will influence a pagan at all. It works with Christians cuz they believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God (big G). I'm not a pagan (although I have been close); but if I were, I would consider the Bible to be the rantings of one of many gods (little g). Direct answers from one's own mind might induce a little more coherent debate. For myself as a Christian, I see Jehovah (or Yaweh or Elohim - whatever) as the Supreme expression of divine power. Him alone I worship. Does that mean I hate all other spiritual entities? No - no more than having sex with my only my wife means I hate all other women. I respect and love my wife more than any other woman; and I do things for and with her that I would not do for and with other women. I respect and Love my God more than any other spiritual entity; and as such I do thinks for and with Him that I don't do with other spirit beings (yes; I have had encounters with other spirit beings). M.T.- Is that the same as saying I think my Dad can beat up your Dad? Quote

M.T.- Is that the same as saying I think my Dad can beat up your Dad? No its not the same at all Joe. Its simply saying there is one spiritual being that resonates or has called more to you than any other. That's awesome. There is a mile of difference between that and "all other Gods are false" "any other being claiming to be a God is a demon deceiving you" etc. The Bible as we have it is a controversial piece of literature. Depending on which researcher you read, it is as much a tool of political manipulation as it is the word of a God. In that sense the use of a big G for the deity(ies) it represents and a small g for all others is a way of saying "My Dad can beat up your dad" (note the use of big D and little d there) As you are stating it, there is little difference between what you are saying and the fact that I put my deities on a higher level than say a Hellenic or a Kemetic person. There deities resonate even less with me than yours does. But yet I would never think of telling them that mine are more spiritual, more powerful or more divine than theirs are. IMO that is simply disgustingly rude. I will add here that I have a deity that I put before all others as well. But that is my personal journey, and as I see it I have no right to demand that any other person put that deity, or any deity, above any other. If there is one thing I have learned here, and from other Christians it is this. A large number spend more time trying to prove how big and powerful and almighty their God(s) is than they do in contemplation of his/their character and how to best honour and learn from him/them. Their are endless debates and fights about it all, divisions, anger and spite are the most commonly displayed traits. While I am sure Naomi did not start this thread to brag about "how tough her dad is" (cause Naomi is one of the shining lights of what a Christian can be IMO) it really does point to that pride filled condescending nature that is so prevalent in so many followers of G. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 30, 2013 Members Posted August 30, 2013 .... of the Big G (God) and little g (god) theology? Big G theology is the mindset - beliefs and acts - towards the God of the Bible...that the God of Israel is to be honored above all others. I suppose it would encompass Christian/Jewish/Catholic/Islam... Little g theology would then be the beliefs and acts used to worship Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Etruscan, Japanese, Chinese, Celtic, Native American, and all other deities not related to the biblical God. Quote Pam      Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
stinsonmarri Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Let me say this but I do not believe in any of this at all! What help me to understand who I am to worship are the Bible itself and EGW. She warned in EW p. 220, 221 that words had been change base on each scholar's belief. So that means we must go back and understand, what words originally meant. Why? Because Satan is smart and he uses every necessary to get on the wrong path. We claim to preach all the Commands of ELOHIM but we don't. Take the Hebrew ELOHIM all Biblical scholars know that this word is plural but yet they use a singular title god! Why? Because the Biblical scholars state that, the Hebrews used a singular verb with this plural noun. Now I ask what the plural noun to be singular? People is a noun that is plural and it use by a singular verb does that make is just one or more than one-a whole lot? Here are the facts all human believe in more than one deity! They get it from fact ELOHIM! THREE SUPREME BEINGS created and THEIR Title or Surname is ELOHIM! And ELOHIM said, Let US make man in OUR image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen 1:26 Come, let US go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another’s speech. Gen 11:7 (HCSB) Now here are heathens who understood the true word of ELOHIM, check this out all the translators of ancient past, and today say it. Here is one translator: A rare and weighty thing indeed the king requires! None except the gods can reveal it to the king, and their dwelling is not with [human] flesh. The word god big or little should never be used to speak of the ALL MIGHTY ONES. We need here what YAHWEH said on this point: And in all that I have said to you take heed. And make no mention of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth. Ex 23:13 (The Scripture 98+) Happy Sabbath and be bless! Quote
Dr. Waite Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Quote: After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son carried out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to make man in their own image. They had wrought together in the creation of the earth and every living thing upon it. And now God says to his Son, "Let us make man in our image." As Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator, he was of noble height, and of beautiful symmetry. He was more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth, and was well proportioned. His features were perfect and beautiful. His complexion was neither white, nor sallow, but ruddy, glowing with the rich tint of health. Eve was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders. She, too, was noble--perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful. {1SP 24.2} Quote grw
Dr. Waite Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 .... of the Big G (God) and little g (god) theology? The Father of the divine Son of God DOES NOT have another person or being who is his God and Father whereas the divine Son of the living God has another person or being who is his GOD and Father. The Father and God of the divine Son of God is the only true God See John 17:3. The Father and God of the divine Son of God is the person or being who "only hath immortality". See 1 Timothy 6:16 Quote grw
Gibs Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 This question cannot be settled as people do not believe the Bible and all have not received His Spirit of Truth that would guide into ALL Truth or we would have Unity and Harmony. However the very few that have His Spirit of Truth are not only in Harmony with God but also with each other! How important to you is it to get His Spirit of Truth to rightly discern the truth of the Holy Word? Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
