Why don't people like the series? Is it like Chick Publications?

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

if the series is anything like the sample posted above, I can see why some don't like it... it's putting words in Jesus' mouth that he didn't say...

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

I would feel more comfortable if it was Postum with Jesus. :)

Jesus didn't say anything like that? I think you better re-read your Bible again.

Quote:
John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Jesus NEVER said, "You can respect me all day long...but that's not enough to make you OK in my book." That's a really snotty retort to make to someone, and I really don't think your out-of-context quote is comparable.

However, I understand that "being OK" may mean something different to some people than it does to me..

Having been an Adventist for many years, my answer today could be different than it might have been many years ago. Now, accepting the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit and considering caffeine as toxic to the body, I settle for this as reason enough to pay attention.

"If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

"1 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV

OTOH, I never liked coffee much anyway since the taste had to be masqueraded so much with coffee cream and sugar for me to find it palatable, I found and find my reason for shying away from its' use perfectly logical.

"Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."Matthew 11:29 NLT

rudywoofs,

I'm not trying to be difficult with you, although I often percieve that you think that's what I'm doing.

Did you really think about the verse I quoted? Jesus just told someone that if they didn't have his word abiding in them, and that means they are surrendered to His authority and acknowledging that He is both Lord(Master) of their life and their Savior that they were going to be thrown out and destroyed by fire.

He's telling them that just thinking He's a good guy and such isn't enough in His book to make them OK, in a much more severe tone. He's saying it's not only not enough to make them OK, it's enough to get them killed in the end.

thank you for your interpretation of the scriptures...however, it doesn't agree with mine...

rudywoofs,

I'd be very interested in having you give me your interpretation of John 15:6. Not to debate it with you, but just to see what you think about it. I'm always curious about what people believe.

Hope you don't mind this intrusion. Seemed important because of Who inspired the statement.

"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:20-21 NLT
