Why do you want to go to heaven?

What would you say to a person who does not believe a life here after and perfectly content with life on this earth, once you die you are gone forever and remember nothing, thus you are not going to miss any thing in the new earth because you never experienced a life in the new earth?

There's not much to say to such a person. Perhaps just leave them alone to enjoy their life?

And perhaps consider... if you turn out not to have been correct about an afterlife, have you made the most of this one?

I talked to a dying patient once about Jesus and heaven. Her response was that she had no desire to go to heaven. She's had a wonderful life with two wonderful husbands. What could I say?

Although the problems of sin will be gone, heaven is a continuation of this life, enjoying day after day with our loved ones, but knowing that they will henceforth always be there without PAINFUL arguments, and without illness and without death. Our travel options will greatly improve and there will also be others that we can visit and make friends with, and other limits removed.

I don't want to go to heaven.....if heaven is the goal....The reason is that, while I imagine heaven is a wonderful place, I will find that I have done all the things that I need to try/do and a few things that I don't think I'd like, and may or may not think that they're fun....

IOWs, heaven is, in my view, a finite place...It has lots of people there, and I imagine that they are all fine people...Perhaps I will meet all of you....but you are not the reason that I want to go to heaven....

I am told that heaven is an empty place because all of heaven has been emptied out for me....So, what is there left?

He is the pearl of great price...the one treasure that is beyond any treasure, the Friend of sinners, the balam of Gilead, the King of kings and Lord of lords...His is a Friendship that is like no other....

I like this answer:

Basically, "heaven is a continuation of this life", but much improved. I think this is a good answer for a person who says they are content with the present life.

The problem is that most people in the world view Heaven as a place where we will be fat babies floating around on clouds playing the harp and don't know or recognize each other. Hell on the other hand, is a place where we all know each other and get to run around and do what we can while burning forever and ever with eternal life. Take the fire away and Hell is actually a better place than Heaven according to popular belief.

I want to go to heaven because if I get there, I will be like Jesus in character. Nothing could be better as far as I'm concerned. My goal is not heaven. My goal is to be like Jesus. A side benefit of that is heaven. A good benefit? Yes. A great benefit even, but not the main reason for being a Christian. A life without crime, selfishness, death, pain, etc... is something that will be wonderful. The ability to study anything you want for as long as you want will also be wonderful. The ability to travel for a decade or so and not come back to home that has fallen apart will also be very cool. But, none of those things can equal a life lived so that I will never harm another person. I can think of nothing better than that.
