Ronald Eldon Wyatt (1933 – August 4, 1999) was an adventurer and former nurse anesthetist noted for advocating the Durupınar site as the site of Noah's Ark, among other Bible-related pseudoarchaeology. His claims were dismissed by scientists, historians, biblical scholars, and even by leaders in his own Seventh-day Adventist Church, but his work continued to have a following among some fundamentalists and evangelical Christians.

I remember a modern day proverb, "He who laughs last, laughs best. Many won't be laughing anymore.

" “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away."Matt 24:37-39 NASB

As always, it's far easier to assert things than to back them up.

thumbsup Not only that LHC, I have a book called "Ark of the Covenant" by Jonathan Gray, one of the foremost archeologists around. He started out writing the book to disprove all of Ron Wyatt's claims. He couldn't disprove any of them.

The man has been working decades, spending large sums of his own money, for a pipe dream. Yeah, right!!!! Just like the Holy Bible was written for the fun of it by many different authors, over a period of 1500 years all with the same goal in mind on human inspiration only.

Using the claim "if you can't disprove it, then it must be true"...is so....well...the best way to say it, FALLACY! The man had no supporting data, verifiable, to back up his claims. We have been down this road before and no, it still hasn't been verified. If one believes in things that go bump in the nite, stick to it, more verifiable!!

I wasn't aware that Gray was one of the foremost archeologists around. And I'm not sure why that should matter to you either way, considering that the foremost archeologists around all consider people like Gray and Wyatt to be crackpots who have completely failed to back up their claims?

Not directly related, but relevant paper that could be modified slightly to apply to much more than pseudoarcheology:

I never heard of Jonathan Gray. But Sigrid Horn and other professors at Andrews when I was there, and Jim Fleming when I studied with him in Israel gave some good answers.

Some of the issues include:

1. The Mt. Ararat in Turkey is North West of Babylon. The Bible says that the Ark landed in the Ararat mountains EAST of Babylon. (and that Turkey mountain did not become Mt. Ararat until Christianity became popular after Constantine. It was one of SEVERAL mountains who suddenly became Mt. Ararat after Constantine. Every country wanted some kind of relic or a Bible story take place there. Since we know where most of the Bible Stories took place, Mt. Ararat became game and several countries, including Turkey, would pick a mountain that they said was Mt. Ararat where the Ark landed. The Turkey mountain became famous only because it was on the route of the crusaders.

I'll be back later with other problems.

Another issue is how Ron W. claimed that the Red Sea is the gulf of Aqaba and the wilderness wanderings and Mt. Sinai is in Arabia. I can go into different points about this, but anyway, he claimed to have gone to the gulf where he thinks that they crossed and could look into the water see the chariot wheels from Pharaoh laying on top, breaking the laws of sedimentation and currents and biodegradable material.

Also there is too much of the artifacts and the evidence just popping out laying out there for Ron to simply go over and pick up, without excavation, but not being able to be found by others who wanted to study the sites. And Ron had a bad habit of his photos to prove his discoveries being badly out of focus

I do not know who Johathan Gray is. I am not aware that he is a "formost archeologist." The statement that Gray could not disprove Wyatt clearly indicates to me thar Gray is/was not a foremost archeologist, as a college student could disprove some of what Wyatt has claimed.

Yes, it is true that some of what Wyatt has claimed cannot be disproved. The reason for some of that is that Wyatt has failed to supply the evidence to support some of his claims. Sometimes, one cannot disprove something when one does not have the supporting evidence.

Let us look at one claim of Wyatt's that can be disproved by a college student, who has never taken a class in archeology: Wyatt claimed to have discovered the shed blood of Jesus Christ. He claimed that microscopic evaulation of that blood showed that the blood was alive at the time of his discovery and due to the fact that it was alive, it had to be the blood of Christ who was God in human flesh.

As proof that it was alive, he posted on the Internet a microscopic picture of the blood sample which clearly had moving particles in that sample. Wyatt said that movement indicated life within the blood cells themselves.

A college student taking a laboratory course in anatomy & Physology would immediately recognize that movement in the slide as "brownian movemenet." I did. I have seen it many times in microscopic slides. Brownian movement is NOT an indicator of life.

NOTE: With the death of Wyatt, those who run his website have removed that slide from the Internet. But, it was there. I saw it and I recognized it as "brownian movement."

I have looked at his (Johathan Gray) website. It is self-evident to me as to why he was unable to disprove any of Ron Wyatt's claims: Gray does not have the knowledge background to disprove Wyatt. At least, it was not evident to me that he had such.

I didn't get that from reading the book. So I'll go with your knowledge in this area, mine is not that great. I do always appreciate your posts on archeology and respect your thoughtful replys.

Some interesting stuff at this page: http://web.archive.org/web/20080603021844/http://www2.andrews.edu/~merling/

It's from 2008 and no longer exists except in the Wayback Machine archive, but it has an Andrews University archaeologist assessing some of Ron Wyatt's claims.

As I recall Someone Who referred to Himself as having a kingdom under the title "I Am", didn't escape the naysayers in His time on earth either.

Here's something including Pascal's wager that is convincing evidence of the veracity that naysayers are just as often wrong no matter how much paper they get.
