Parade Orange Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 well a few times. the host is handsome and he used to have his own night talk show on FOX I think i have footage of him in drag years ago. I may have thrown out the tape though. he is a liberal but he pokes fun at all sides. its nice to see him succeed in that business. His late night talk show didnt catch on and was yanked. Moderators Bravus Posted October 11, 2005 Moderators Posted October 11, 2005 I think it's fascinating that The Daily Show, which is intended as satire, is the main trusted source of news and current affairs for many young people. I enjoy it, but look elsewhere for serious news and analysis. I think Jon Stewart does a nice job of puncturing pretensions on all sides - as well as being a very smart man. Quote Truth is important
Neil D Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I believe that it is only on cable, and since I don't have cable, I cant get it....I also can't vote...[sigh] [throwing back of hand to forehead] I have been excluded! Woe is me!....I am subject to eletisism [sp] How will I ever bare the pain!!! [melodramatic mode-off] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Paul Beach Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Margaret Gray responds: Mr. Stewart's show is a disgrace. It is satirical and as such should be shunned - a serious person wouldn't even consider watching such sarcastic drivel. Quote

That means it ok to watch and is furthermore recommneded. I gotta get cable.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Moderators LynnDel Posted October 11, 2005 Moderators Posted October 11, 2005 No comment on the show as this is the first I've ever heard of it. But Mrs. Gray is against satire? I thought Satire was her middle name! LD Oh -- Did I fall into a trap here? Quote LD
Halfstep Denise Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Hi, Stan! The catagories don't fit my situation. I have watched the show occasionally and only when my husband selects it and I want to keep the peace. Fortunately, my husband has discovered that I think the show is disgusting and he wants to keep the peace with me so he chooses something else to watch!! Yippee!! My dear husband knows that if the show or movie is offensive to me that I will tell him I love him as I am leaving the room! Most of the time he will change the channel!! Parade Orange Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Denise Farquhar hi, Let me introduce myself, I am G4J and nice to meet u. What nationality is your last name? My real last name is Lebonese and the first four letters sounds like a bad word if pronounced slightly wrong. imagine my childhood! any , just curious 8:O) Gay4JESUS Quote All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Halfstep Denise Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Gay4Jesus: I have been asked a few times if my last name is Middle Eastern in origin. According to my father-in-law, it isn't. He says it's French. My "research" indicates it is the French version of a Scottish name! So now I'm double Scottish!! hee hee! Somehow I doubt The Daily Show would be discussing my last name! Dr. Shane Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Discussing your last name is probbally much more elevating than The Daily Show. <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
