Adventist Family Among Nairobi's Terror Victims

Reports indicate that at least one Adventist family from Nairobi lost a relative who was in the capital city’s Westlands area at the time. Harun Oyieke, a lecturer at Co-operative University College of Kenya, was among those killed in the attack.

My son was posting his condolences on Facebook when a friend of his said that she was waiting for some news for a missing friend of hers, family currently in S. Africa.

Turns out the friend had also been killed in the attack :(

More end time signs are catching up with us as we are witnessing all over the world. Everyday there is no good news… all we hear are heart breaking news. For us, every August and September each year is extremely terrible and human life will never gonna be easy as Satan is seriously wounded. It has been a very hard time for us here in Kenya as you have been hearing or may be not. Terrorists attacked a shopping mall in Nairobi. We are living away from Nairobi but what we saw on TV screens last Saturday afternoon was extremely horrific, disturbing, very tense, inhumane and emotional roller coaster. My wife, Mum, Grandma and my little children cried and screamed terribly, they were all traumatized for 4 days and I had to call in a counselor to enable them cope with the situation. Now their stressful condition is improving except for my wife whose blood pressure keeps on changing and is still high. The impact of the terror attack in Nairobi last Saturday was bigger than that of 1998 because of the prolonged period of chilling killing and fears of the unknown.

Oh my God! It is very difficult to deal with sadness, anxiety, irritability, disbelief, loss of life and treasured properties. Our hearts go out to all those who have lost their loved ones. We continue to pray for those who are suffering and now carrying the heaviest burdens in coming to terms with losses. May the Lord give them courage and offer unconditional support. I can’t wait till God calls us home. “Trust in the Lord and do good.” ~ Psalm 37:3. “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name” ~ Psalms 91:14

Kenyans are moaning but when we hang on to anger and resentment it only boomerangs back on to us. It is like drinking a bottle of poison and waiting for the other person to die. The moment we decide to forgive, the universe rolls out an array of ways to heal the past and help us move on. Unforgiving people are bitter. When we forgive and move on, we are releasing our self from the negative holds of the past and freeing our self from the burden of bitterness.

Anyway, I am happy to inform you that I am physically and spiritually strong. Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, it means that I have decided to look beyond the imperfection. Our projects have progress well and we are achieving continued success. The water well is working and serving the village, the root cellar is waiting for next produce. The oxen and equipment are boosting our production. We have used them for ploughing, ridging and planting. It is fairly warm and wet because of the rains that we have been receiving. So far we have planted a total of 4 acre with early maturing crops and moving on. We are now taking the oxen through training on how to weed crops that are planted on rows. It is a tricky operation because at times the animals break our delicate crops but we will not surrender till we achieve our target. We need to take good care of the animals by providing quality & supplementary feeds, appropriate shelter and veterinary services. We humble ourselves and request for continued support through you as we bring up these projects to a sustainable level.

The body of believers where we worship is coming to see that as a very likely happenstance, just not too sure how long before it takes place. Praise God we have the promises of Jesus to rely on.
