bonnie Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 October 2, 2013 Comparing apples and iPhones B. Phillip Johnson "I don't see anyone telling Apple that they should stop selling iphones." Obama Well, Mr. President, a few questions... No one makes people buy iphones. Apple makes money and runs efficiently. Now compare and contrast. Apple's web site has been getting about 30 million hits a day, your web site folded under a weight of about 2 million. 99% of Apples new software worked flawlessly. Obamacare and the website not at all. Perhaps if you had some people from the "real world" in your administration you would understand the idiocy of the comparison. Better still, an unrehearsed question from a pseudo journalist. Secondly, the imagery of shutting down the National Mall, and in particular the WWII memorial is cheap and duplicitous. The WWII Monument is a walk through an area of monuments within the National outdoor mall. What cost is there in allowing people to walk the mall? You, the son of a WWII veteran, should have understood this. It seems having the "closed" signs (due to Republicans) to push your imagery was more important to you. And finally, due to your imaginary Executive powers, you have rewritten and selectively nullified your own signature legislation. You have unilaterally delayed the implementation of certain aspects of the Affordable Care Act though the law was passed in its totality. The Supreme Court has rewritten the "Law of the Land", as Justice Scalia notes in his dissent, by swapping the meaning of "penalty" and "tax". And finally you have selectively nullified your law by waiving its effects on your friends, donors, and cronies. James Madison must be spinning in his sepulcher. Lest we forget, the promise of our government is this. Federalist 57 (Madison) "The House of Representatives ...can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and friends...." It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Moderators lazarus Posted October 3, 2013 Moderators Posted October 3, 2013 This guy didn't by a 1st generation Macbook. He knows not of what he speaks. The President makes a great comparison. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein

There is no comparison. 1st generation MacBook was not forced by federal law.You were under no obligation to purchase one. There was not a 1st Macbook for average people and one for politicians. Whatever glitches a company has when they manufacture something they are responsible for refund or replacement and no cost to the buyer. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Ted Oplinger Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 If I want an iPhone or an iPad, I choose to buy one. Now, by law, I can't choose to opt out of Obama's health care Ponzi scheme. Major significant difference. Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Major significant difference. Just apply the same logic Obama was using. You cannot know what the product you are being forced to buy from Apple consists of,you need to buy it first. If you refuse to buy it without knowing what the product does,Apple can fine you and send the IRS to visit you. If you refuse to buy it,you are a ignorant extremist. Ted Oplinger Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Well, I question Obama's "logic" greatly. We were treated to another of his off-teleprompter moments yesterday when Dear Leader made the example of a plant worker not getting what they want, so they stop working until they get it. Evidently, either it is now Democrat policy that union strikes are now illegal, or they have conveniently forgotten that a manufacturing/industry plant worker may NOT be fired for participation in a strike (NLRA declaration). More poor optics for the President in this shutdown/Obamacare mess, who is supposed to be the sharpest we've ever had. Even Bush 43 - ol' "W" himself - didn't make statements and examples THAT wrong...
