Arkansas: Jim Bob and His Wahf have 16th Kid - Plan another

Mrs. Gray has learned that a man named "Jim Bob Duggar" from Arkansas has had his 16th kid with his wife. Mrs. Gray will not draw any stereotypical lines between a man named Jim Bob, the fact that he is from Arkansas, and that he is on his 16th kid. People named Jim Bob do not all come from Arkansas, nor do they have more than the average number of kids. The fact that he has a "dual" first name is of no consequence to the fact that he thinks this kind of thing is normal. And the fact that he is 40 and his wife is 39 is not remarkable either. Michelle, Jim Bob's wahf, was married to him for four years before she had her first "gift from the Lord" at age 21.

In fact, since he is running for political office in the state senate, it may be an advantage to have enough kids to tip elections in his favor when they get old enough to vote.

All the kids names start with a "J" which of course would have to include at least one Jedidiah.

This is a great story. The guy is wealthy, can afford a big house and a big family. Most stories I have read like this have a disabled dad that can't figure out how to stop having kids.

They are Mormons...

My neighbor and GREAT FRIEND is a Mormon... she is pregnant with her 6th. She takes better care of all of them and the house, and her volunteer work, then I could ever take care of my 3 and my house!!! She is patient.. a GREAT mom, teaches them well... and is just one of those people who can handle alot of kids...

I've met lots of her friends from church, and they all have alot of kids and seem to handle it really well.. I really admire how they teach their families to work together, so that to much never rests on one person(mom). Everyone (including DAD) does their part... and it works!!

My grandmother had 18 children (2 sets of twins). Three died before they were 2 years old. They were Catholic and lived on a farm.

Thank you for the "real" picture. They appear to be a well-cared for family.

I think a large family would be great, if you have the time, money and energy to take proper care of them.

My ex had 10 in their large Italian family and they are all exceptional people. Mother's family had 12 children and Daddy had 8 brothers and 1 sisters.

Mother had me and didn't want any more then along came my brother. She said "enough". Now she says she wishes she had 10!

I don't think they are Mormon, actually. I can't find anything specifically, but they've been discussed on another non-denominational, Christian parenting message board where I post. There are many mothers there who are "quiverfull." I greatly admire those who follow that path...the complete faith they have in God to provide for their families is amazing to me!

The boundary between North and South is usually thought of as the Mason-dixon Line, but here's some interesting info. My Dad was born and raised in Kentucky, north of the line. My Mom was born and raised in New Jersey, south of the line. (Boy, was she upset when she found out about that!) Dad didn't care.

Well, I guess all stories heard as a child are not true. I never really checked it, but Dad was born south of the Mason-dixon Line, but so was my mother. Myself, also, born in Delaware. I was wrong again!
