swisskris Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 For five years we lived in the USA before returning home to Switzerland in May 2004. While we were there it was the height for the "left behind" books. My husband, always having time for unusual thoughts, came up with the following, as an idea for a SDA business venture: LEFT BEHIND INSURANCE The idea is to sell insurance to individuals who believe in this theory. They would pay a monthly fee, until the secret rapture, insuring that upon their personal rapture their loved ones "that are left behind" would receive a Bible and information that would allow them the means to accept Christ as their Savior before His return at the end of the 7 years of tribulation. Upon receipt of the first payment they would be sent a copy of "The Great Controversy". The policy would include the option to cancel the insurance at any time they felt it was no longer necessary theologically. We told it to a friend that was working at 3ABN, expecting him to LOL, instead he told us what a great idea it was... We told him that we didn't think that was the way God intended us to share further light from the scriptures with our Christian brothers and sisters in other folds, but it really was an interesting concept... Moderators Denise Posted October 16, 2005 Moderators Posted October 16, 2005 Hey Stan and Amelia!! This is a neat topic thread. How have things been with you 'Melia? Things are fine here. Guess what? The Lord has blessed me so much and surprised me with a big surprise one day. The last weekend in June, I lost my favorite cat. I really loved her. She had kittens about 4-5 weeks before. One day, when it was pouring rain outside, (still talking about end of June), I looked out the kitchen window, and saw my sweet cat struggling trying to get over to our house to get help. I ran outside in the pouring rain immediately with a blanket in my hand to bring her in. She couldn't stand up, and it seemed like she was in and out. She seemed she was in, and then you could wave your hand in front of her face, and she didn't even notice. I thought she might of been poisened. It was on a weekend, so I couldn't get a hold of a vet until the next day. I tried to feed her charcoal water, with an eye dropper, hoping it would help. She was getting worse, and by the morning, I watched her die. I was so hurt and upset. She was my favorite, and now she was gone. I really enjoyed her company. Now, I didn't know where her kittens were, but always seen her come from one of my neighbors house. So, I went over there and asked them if they ever seen the mother cat and if they knew if they seen the kittens. They told me they did see her in back of their house catching big rats, and there were alot of snakes there too. Well, I couldn't find them. So, I prayed to the Lord to take care of those kittens, they were His. Well, 3 months later, Norman and my son were working outside doing some yard work, and my son came running in excitedly to tell me to get some cat food, because they had found the kittens playing in the side of the woods next to my other neighbor's yard. I get out there, and there were 2 adorable kittens, not fully grown, one female that looked exactly like the mother, and also a male that closely resembles the mom. They are inseparateable. I seen them go over to the neighbor's house, so I went over there to ask them how long had those kittens been over there. And they told me for a few months, they were born over there, and the mother never came back. Well, I told them the story on the mother. I never thought of checking the other neighbor, because she came from the other way. I guess she hunted over there. So, the Lord used my neighbors to take care of them until we found them. They were not too tame at first, but now, they are pretty tamed. All I did was to feed them tuna, and they warmed up to me pretty fast! And they have been such a blessing! It's nice to have a surprise like that! :-) The Lord knows our hearts and how to give us blessings at the right time. Jesus! cricket Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Do smiley faces count as words? Also, do plurals count? Posters may find this particularly difficult as there are only 500 words that make up 80% of our everyday communications. There are only a few indefinite articles and only one definite one to aid our ability to convey messages. This has become an intriguing sport of human cognition! Quote
