TheBoss, aka Mrs Bravus, aka Suzie, has a small favour to request.

Quote:
I am conducting research for a Uni course. I’m asking you to participate in my study. Could you open the attachment, read the ‘Personality in Community’ instruction and if you agree, can you fill in the survey and complete it as honestly as you can. Please save, attach and send it back to me at sgeelan at gmail dot com by Sunday 13 October 2013. I very much appreciate your participation in my study.

The survey is a Word document, available at the link below, and you should complete it as a Word doc, save and email to her.

Thanks very much indeed to everyone who can take the 5 minutes or so it will take. It's all radio buttons, with I think only one word to type in, so it's very quick.

Personally, I'd have used Survey Monkey, but her lecturer has the notion that this method makes it more ethical...

Can I suggest you add two random letters and numbers to the end of the filename when you save it? Like 'PersonalitySurveySueXG28' or whatever. I'm not sure she's thought this through, but she's likely to (hopefully) end up with many copies, and if they have identical filenames that could be annoying.

Don't have 'Word' on my Mac, sorry! Converting to a word .doc with Pages changed the format and still could not use!

Have the same problem, but it will open in textedit! Not sure of what it should look like? It doesn't look right to me? Will try using my wife's PC, when I get a chance. It does have Word.

Thanks, both of you. I strongly suggested that Survey Monkey, a proper online application, be used, but Suzie's lecture has some bee in her bonnet that this way is better for research ethics (it isn't) and required it to be done this way.

Thanks again.

As one respondent noted, it's not especially anonymous if you email the results in.

One more reason the lecturer is a goose.

She Who Must Be Obeyed wants it to be known that each survey will be printed out and the email deleted, and the pile shuffled. There will be no way the researchers will have *any* identity information about respondents when entering and analysing the data.

Thanks.

I don't have any problem opening the questionnaire, but when I try to click on any of the "buttons," all I get is a formatting square:

Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

I have the same issues Pam

Ya, I tried different methods on a Mac and you really have to use Microsoft Word.

One more reason the lecturer is a goose.

Seems so.

I regularly get surveys from doctoral students using survey monkey. It works perfectly.

I managed to get the survey done and sent. I used an "x" next to the appropriate question. The radio buttons were messed up on my Mac version of Word.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

I wasn't even able to mark an "X" at or near the appropriate spot.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

I have done it....I am of the PC persuasion in computers :).....but have to agree that Survey Monkey would

be much easier.

Done :) but yeah on the email thing.

I tried to look at the site, but every attempt to connect to it failed. At first there was a DNS failure and then once library's DNS servers finally found the needed info each connection attempt failed on time outs.

Thanks very much to all who completed - and all who attempted!

I apologize. I tried, but my Microsoft Word program doesn't seem to be connected to my email program. I went through all the questions and answered them, but they're now lost.

If I may be so bold as to comment... the questions were all couched in such language as to suggest their own "best" answers, and it was very temptimg to portray myself as perfect. I wished there had been more subtlety in the questions. But then, my answers couldn't be used in the survey anyhow, so no matter.

Good luck to Suzie in her studies. Soon she'll be able to compete with her hubby in the education field!
