Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted October 12, 2013 Administrators Posted October 12, 2013 And they seem oblivious to that simple fact. Simply out of touch with the reality of what is in the best interests of the whole country. But those that have a stranglehold on the stalemate think they have nothing to lose by this polling result. They feel impervious to the polling results. I suspect that within their own gerrymandered congressional district those stats might be in the reverse. They think they are safe for reelection because their district is comprised of an overwhelming majority of those that are likewise out of touch with the reality of what is good for the whole country. We are being ruled by political hostage takers whose own self interest governs them. They are willing to sell the country down the river, see it fail, just to maintain their own ideological position. It does not have to make sense to the rest of the country. All politics are local. But at this point local is loco. But it is killing the Republican party. If they do not wake up real soon they will find that even their own party will have abandoned them. The ticking time bomb of their own absurdity will result in long term rule of the Democrats while the Republican party tries to rebuild itself and people's confidence in it. To my Republican friends - Don't believe it? Read the Sam Wang topic. Take it seriously. He called the Romney defeat when all the Republican pollsters were fat dumb and happy - and very wrong. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Ted Oplinger Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 http://www.gallup.com/poll/165317/republican-party-favorability-sinks-record-low.aspx Another rent-a-poll... Polls are quite easily skewed, just by the sampling measures taken. Many polls today consistently undersample the conservative perspective, even while the American population is widely acknowledged to be center-right in orientation. Looking at the internals tells the whole story of how and why the poll was put together. Also, the Republican party has a two-fold issue: the unfavorables there are in real life divided between liberals who despise the Republican party no matter what, combined with those people who look unfavorably upon the Republicans because they have not held fast to the conservative mantle. The Democrat party does not have this problem - they simply show the door to whoever doesn't agree with their world perspective. The same polls you trumpet about how badly Republicans are doing, also show that the Democrats are also looked upon very unfavorably by the majority of Americans. Republicans may be at record lows, but Democrats have not reaped a groundswell of popularity on this point. That seems to go right over the liberal's head - it just does not register in the mind of a liberal that perhaps the liberal's socialist POV stinks just as much in the eyes of America as the mish-mash sell-out of conservatism the Republicans offer. And bringing up the rear - these same polls, as heavily skewed as they are in their internals to favor the liberal POV, demonstrate Obama as just as culpable in this mess as the rest. Repub's approval in the mid 20's, Dem's approval in the low 30's, and Obama's approval in the high 30's to low 40's. The ONLY thing holding the Dem numbers up is a liberal press that has become a bought press, now serving as the PR outlets for the President and his party. Yet, even with all this advantage, the Dems are not significantly more liked over the Repubs, and the President is slowly sinking to the same level of disgust. Not exactly a lot to crow about there, guys. Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan

To my Republican friends - Don't believe it? Read the Sam Wang topic. Take it seriously. He called the Romney defeat when all the Republican pollsters were fat dumb and happy - and very wrong. Anyone who thinks Obamacare is in the best interests of this country simply doesn't understand it, or economics in general. Obama sold this as a program that would do two things: 1. Cut the deficit. 2. Reduce people's medical costs. Both are untrue. Obamacare was said to have a total cost of $900 million. Right now, and Obamacare isn't even fully implemented, the costs are $2.7 trillion. That's 3 times what Obama and the Democrats said it would cost, and this estimate comes from the GAO. Where's all this money going to come from? The pocket of every single taxpayer. It means taxes are going up, way up. And we don't even have a clue as to how much more it's going to cost. This is not going to reduce anyone's medical expenses. It's been shown already that everyone's medical costs are going up. Some people's costs are rising exponentially. In some states costs are more than doubling, in other states only 50%, and in some states they are tripling. Now, don't tell me that because the government is going to refund people for part of their increase in expenses that this means their costs aren't going up. That's a flat out lie. Taxes and the debt are going up to pay for that refund, and that comes out of everyone's pockets. There is no free lunch. The third promise already proven to be a lie is that if anyone wanted to keep their current insurance they could. Insurance carriers are dropping people as they have to pull out of entire states due to their inability to even pay their expenses in those states now on the premiums they can charge. This is due entirely to Obamacare. Nothing else. The third thing is that many employers are now going to part-time only employees as they cannot afford the costs imposed on them by Obamacare. Their only choices are to raise the prices on their products enough to pay for the Obamacare mandated costs, and thus price themselves out of the market place, or drop all coverage and full time employees other than management. This is due to Obamacare, and Obamacare alone. Now, don't tell me that it's because I'm selfish that I'm against Obamacare. I'm living on less than $500/month. I'm a diabetic. I have congestive heart failure. I need back surgery. I have sciatica in my legs and riduculopathy in my arms.(Ridiculapathy is the same thing as sciatica only it's in your arms.) I have big time nerve pain my feet from my diabetes. I have all these issues that should make me for Obamacare, if all the hype were true, but it's not. I'm not against Obamacare because I'm selfish, but because I'm unselfish. I don't think everyone else ought to pay for my health problems. I don't want a supposedly free lunch. I'd rather die from my health problems than have that cost placed on everyone else. I want everyone's financial situation to improve, not get worse, and Obamacare is only going to make everyone's financial situation worse. This abomination, Obamacare, will only fully bankrupt the country I live in. It's a burden that will kill this economy, raise an already almost-unpayable debt burden on this country, and in so doing make not only my situation worse, but the situation of everyone in this country worse. All you've shown me, Tom, is that you're talking about things you do not understand and have not thought out. joeb Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 So, Tom, who is fighting for the best interests of their country? Those fighting against increases in our debt. Those fighting against policies that are killing job creation. It's a flat out lie that you can spend your way out of insolvency. Neither can you spend your way out of poverty. Both are nothing but the huge lies told again and again until, like Goebbels and Wilson said, they will be believed by enough of a country's population that it will change the country. This is due to Obamacare, and Obamacare alone. The company my son works for is being hit for an additional 13 million dollars a year. They already provided insurance. A local business would have to shell out an additional 25,000.00 a month. He also was providing insurance. He has told his employees they are on their own and cut their hours. He can't possibly raise his prices enough to cover the increase. This doesn't even get into the much higher deductibles. Americans have been so used to insurance picking up the whole tab or with a small co-pay it is obviously a shock to them that under this savings they are going to get hit hard I was listening to a talk radio show the other day and a woman called in saying what had happened to her health insurance costs for her family. They had gone up more than $18,000/year, and $10,000 of that was in their deductible. Their premiums went from $479 a month to $1139 month. Their deductible went from $1000/year to $11000/year.
