Krokodil- the flesh-eating drug that is destroying Russian young people

Just Google it and view the sickening effects. This drug is used by heroin addicts (Russia has the highest proportion of heroin users in the world)

This drug, which can be easily made with ingredients purchased at the drug store, does also come into Russia with heroin shipments from Afghanistan via Kazakhstan. It literally causes limbs to drop off and flesh to melt off the body.

There is near to no Government help for addicts. Churches are providing some refuge but they are attacked by the Orthodox churches as sects.

Such a huge tragedy for this largely atheistic land :(

It seems there isn't much from the sewer with which the United States hasn't had some culpability. Need we look any further for reasons some believe the U.S. is going down the tube?

A government big and strong enough to give us everything is also big enough to take away everything.

Just because a pharmaceutical company develops a medication, a government agency approves it for specific uses does not, IMO, make the manufacturer or original country responsible for the irresponsible use of the product. Millions of people who suffer with constant severe pain from numerous medical issues benefit greatly from the products derived from opioid.

What is an Opioid?

Opioids, also known as opiates, are a type of drug that come from the opium poppy or are synthetically made by a drug company. Opioids can be illegal (heroin) or by prescription (painkillers). They are prescribed for pain management (OxyContin, Percocet) or addiction treatment (methadone, buprenorphine).

All opioids act the same way in the brain. Opioids are depressants, which mean that they slow down the central nervous system, including breathing.

Opioids attach to specific proteins, called opioid receptors, which are found in the brain, spinal cord, and gut. When the drugs attach to opioid receptors, they stop the body from sending pain signals to the brain.

Opioids can cause euphoria (ecstasy), and users generally report feeling warm, drowsy, and happy. Opioids lessen stress and discomfort by creating a relaxed detachment from pain, desires, and activity. Because they are depressants, opioids also cause drowsiness, a slow heart rate, constipation, widening of blood vessels, and slowed breathing.

Opioids include:

Heroin (dope, junk)

OxyContin® (OCs)

Percocet®

Vicodin®

Methadone

Fentanyl

Buprenorphine

Morphine

Codeine

My wife suffered for many years with chronic pain, convinced that there was no other way to combat the pain than by doctor prescribed pharmaceuticals, even coming to the place where Morphine was considered to be the most and best for effective pain relief, through professional advice.

After more than 30 years of pursuit for relief of pain from mainstream medical advice which included 11 major operations that added much chronic pain to the sum total, she has at last brought the pain under control and eliminated 85% of the residual pain using alternative natural methods, but not before losing her memory to a large extent as a result of following the experts advice.

She now has totally eliminated the necessity of opiates as well as other pharmaceuticals and returned to a clear mind, though deficient in her ability to connect the dots for normal household duties.

It is hoped that she might return to totally renewed capacity since leaving behind the toxins that put her in the position she now experiences, and if that does come to pass it will be because of the grace of God and while maybe not happening immediately, she's looking forward to the new body and mind she'll be receiving at the coming of Jesus.

Thankfully yours was not mixed with paint thinner or gasoline! I have no problem with the opiate part being used as medicine, but whoa- it's no wonder these young people's bodies are being corroded!

Actually, during the Soviet Union time such was a non-issue, mainly because of the strong ideology of health that pervaded Soviet education system. I sadly admit that the life was much better for young people during the times of the established Soviet Union than it is today in post Soviet Union.
