ClubV12 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I posted a thread earlier about selling my house. It went smoothly, cash, closed quickly, praise God for that! Now the "rest of the story" (Paul Harvey would say). I rented to a friend who has worked for me off and on for a few years. Hard worker, always honest, polite, went the extra mile. I wanted to reward him for being so faithful, reduced rent, etc. He was doing great, until the meth heads found him. He got into the drug, his girl friend and daughter along with him. The nightmare began... They quit paying rent, would not move, garbage started to pile up in the front yard. Unwatered lawn, with garbage, I got a letter from the city saying they would fine me if I didn't clean up the mess. I went down there to handle it, tenants refused me access, called the cops. Cops threatened to arrest me if I entered the property, "tenant rights". City was a different department, they couldn't help with that part. The house began to go downhill BIG TIME! More druggies moved in, I snuck in once and found the flooring was completely trashed, holes in the walls. Cops had been there MANY times over fights and such. I filed for eviction, court, lawyers, etc. They threatened to sue, filed appeals. Child Protective Services came and took the three children. The Father moved out, said he couldn't handle the girl friend and daughter on drugs. When he moved out it got even worse! Anyway, I sold the house. And the father? He still works for me. He's been attending our evangelistic series at the Church. I told him it was important for him to know I forgave him. He's a good man, gone bad, fell on some hard times, I been there. God still worked with me. I don't know what will come of all this, but in some ways I feel like it's his last call. I pray he makes it... Quote

ClubV12 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 I went through the whole range of emotions during this. Anger, plotting revenge, frustration, confusion. When it got to the point where the police were threatening to arrest me if I interfered with the tenants, I was finally beaten into submission. My hands were tied, thwarted at every turn, totally helpless. I gave the house and that trouble to the Lord. Praise to Him, His mercies are great, His peace wonderful. Whatever it takes to get my attention. It's been a major blessing in many ways. Oh that my friend might find and know this peace! Quote

Glad to hear it is turning out positive and hope things to continue in the right direction for this guy. Meth is an evil and devistating drug. I have a niece that we almost lost to its grip. But like you, her parents never gave up and the power of God's and her family's love and forgiveness is greater than the grip of that drug. She is now married and a devoted mother and wife.
