Gibs Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Should we not come to that same place where we can say like Him, "The prince of this world hath nothing in me?" Really, have we any excuse not to be able to? No we don't of course, we must be overcomers and He has made the way easy for us. Will not get into that in this post but may in following ones. Have we truly surrendered ALL? First we need this little read from EGW, Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. John 14:30. "The Commander of heaven was assailed by the tempter. He had no clear, unobstructed passage through the world. He was not left free and without hindrance to win to His kingdom the souls of people by His gracious mercy and loving-kindness. . . . No human being had come into the world and escaped the power of the deceiver. The whole forces of the confederacy of evil were set upon His track to engage in warfare against Him, and, if possible, to prevail over Him. . . . {CTr 259.2} Satan saw the image of God in the character and person of Jesus Christ. He knew that if Christ carried out His plan, his satanic authority would be at an end. Therefore, the life of Christ was a perpetual warfare against satanic agencies. . . . The conflict increased in fierceness and malignity as again and again the prey was taken out of his hands. . . . {CTr 259.3} Just previous to His crucifixion the Saviour said, “The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” Though it was the hour of the power of darkness, yet in anticipation of His triumph Christ could say, “The prince of the world is judged.”“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” Viewing the work of redemption as completed, He could, even in death, speak of the great final deliverance and represent things that were future as if [they were] present. The only begotten Son of the infinite God could successfully carry through the great plan that made humanity’s salvation sure. . . . {CTr 259.4} The condition of the world previous to the first appearing of Christ is a picture of the condition of the world just previous to His second advent. The same iniquity will exist; Satan manifests the same delusive power upon human minds. . . . He is securing his army of human agents to engage in the last conflict against the Prince of life, to overthrow the law of God, which is the foundation of His throne. Satan will work with miraculous presentations to confirm people in the belief that he is what he claims to be—the prince of this world—and that victory is his. He will turn his forces against those who are loyal to God; but though he may cause pain, distress, and human agony, he cannot defile the soul. . . . The people of God in these last days must expect to enter into the thick of the conflict, for the prophetic Word says, “The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”Letter 43, 1895 (Review and Herald, Oct. 29, 1895). {CTr 259.5} With the greatest ONE dwelling in us, can we not also? 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gustave Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 We should all strive for this Gibs but with the understanding that... ...Jesus was driven by God the Holy Spirit into the wild to be tempted of Satan. ...Not to see if He would sin but to establish that He COULDN'T or WOULDN'T sin. This was done to fulfill what the Holy Trinity had said would be the final outcome... ...The Great God of Heaven affirmed that there would be NO other outcome. Daniel 2,25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation. The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. And, Daniel 2,44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. This and of course another approximate 100 other explicit texts... ...That all maintain the impossibility of the real Christ failing in any way whatsoever. Quote
Gibs Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 He could not have been our example if He could not have fallen to sin. Re 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He did not overcome as God but as a man must and plus taking upon himself our fallen nature. Adam did not have that deficit. God cannot be tempted, but Jesus Christ was, Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. He established for sure He would not sin and also that He too could have fallen. He was a man and overcame as a man taking the same as is ours to overcome, the Spirit of God to be the sole Master in soul temple. Satan would have won if He would have reached within and used the Power of the Father of which dwelled in Him in all fullness. Satan monitored this we can know very, very closely. The world was lost by a man and only a man could wrest it back from the usurper, Satan. God would have done it immediately if it was His place as soon as man fell. However, I want it to be known, I do not mind this discussion, but I do want to keep this tread on the topic, "He hath nothing in me." We all have great need to get there as He and with Him all things are possible. Run a thread on Christ overcoming the devil, some others may respond also. Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gustave Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 The question one must address is:If it were impossible for Christ to be tempted and sin, then how could he be tempted as we are and said to have been touched with our feelings? Quote
Gibs Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Jackson, the answer is that He took upon Himself our fallen sinful nature. He proved that our sinful fallen nature is not an excuse to sin, as He refused at every attempt of Satan to get Him to fall to it. Clad in the vestments of humanity, the Son of God came down to the level of those He wished to save. In Him was no guile or sinfulness; He was ever pure and undefiled; yet He took upon Him our sinful nature. Clothing His divinity with humanity, that He might associate with fallen humanity, He sought to regain for man that which, by disobedience, Adam had lost for himself and for the world. In His own character He displayed to the world the character of God.--The Review and Herald, Dec. 15, 1896. {7ABC 452.6} Christ lived a human life that He might be man's example in all things. He endured temptation even as every human being must endure. He believed God as we must believe. He learned obedience even as we are required to learn obedience. And He overcame as we must overcome. His path lay through manifold temptations; therefore He knows how to succour those who are tempted. {BEcho, September 3, 1900 par. 13} 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 The power of Christ in us only comes when a full and total surrender is made of all that we are. "A partial surrender to truth gives Satan free opportunity to work. Until the soul-temple is fully surrendered to God, it is the stronghold of the enemy. This influence is leading souls away from the grand old waymarks into false paths. When the mind becomes confused, when right is considered unessential, and error is called truth, it is almost impossible to make these deceived souls see that it is the adversary who has confused their senses and polluted the soul-temple. A tissue of lies is placed where truth, and truth alone, should be. The word of God is a dead letter to them, and the Saviour's love is unknown." {RH, November 28, 1899 par. 5} Yes He must be then the sole Master of the soul temple and self no longer is allowed to rule in it. Then is when we are truly born again of His Spirit. Then like Him we too can say "he, Satan hath noting in me!" Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gustave Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 i find your reasoning in error on two counts. 1.Neither Adam, the angels nor Satan had sin in them before they were tempted. Yet Adam, Satan and many of the angels were tempted and sinned, so having no sin in you is no guarantee you will not sin as you postulate. 2. The Bible definition of sin is "The transgression of the law".91John 3:4) No one is born a sinner. Adam, Satan and the fallen angels were not created as sinners. More importantly, though, neither are fallen human beings born sinners. They are born with fallen natures with a propensity for disobedience and will transgress the law unless aided by a power from above. But until they transgress the law they are not sinners. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Quote: Read that again - it says Christ ( who is ONE PERSON ).... ..."TOOK ON" an additional Nature. ...That means He added our human Nature to His Divine. Jesus took the nature of Adam which Adam had before he fell. Adams nature after he fell was not the same nature he had before he fell. Jesus did not take upon Himself a fallen nature or He would have had to die for His own lack. Jesus came to prove, among other things, that Adam could have overcome temptation in the strength of what God gave him at creation, not what he could do after having fallen. This below is what he could do on his own after the fall. "“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."John 15:5 NKJV "Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Gustave Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Gustave ,First things first. If you had just stayed with your premise that Jesus came to this earth as a God and did not assume human nature, I could see your reasoning. But you previously said that He could not be tempted because there was no sin in Him. Quote

Gibs Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 The scripture is clear, Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. If He was not lowered to our level then He was not made like we are! Also we can know if it was a surety that he would not sin, don't you know Satan would have known that too and so would not have made any attempts to get Him to. Yes it is very feasible that He could have been beguiled the same as Eve. The liability was there and He even had on Him our fallen nature as scripture makes it clear He was made as we and we have fallen natures. That was a deficit Eve did not have. Jesus Christ overcame the evil one as one of us has to do and He did it, to show us we too can and made the Way easier for us than Himself? Now we can resist Satan and He will flee from you and Christ of course must be dwelling in you, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Make sure you are FULLY submitted! We too can come to this place and state the same but not boast as we can do nothing unless Christ is within! Gustave Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Gustave, set forth the scriptures with little or no explanation, to substantiate your claim. You are denying the scriptures we have posted. God knows the end from the beginning Gibs... ...God told us exactly what the end, without question, would be. Isaiah 46,9 I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do ALL my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. Proverbs 19,21 The Lord's purposes prevails. Job 42,2 no purpose of God can be thwarted. Isaiah 14,24 The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: Knowing or accepting that God "knows the end from the beginning"... ...Requires that one accepts those things God says is impossible is really impossible. ...Thus - you would "test" what you hear by Sacred Scripture. ...Isn't that what SDA's claim to do? So, now that we've established from Scripture - that, God knows what the end will be... ...Let's see if God told us anything about the ultimate end of things here on earth. ...About 'The Christ'. Isaiah 35,4 your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. It clearly says that God will come AND God will "save"... ...Jesus said this verse spoke directly of Him. ...So, that verse was either talking of Christ prior to the Incarnation of Christ. ...OR, Christ just made some stuff up as He went along. Now, we have some examples of Jesus saying that everything written about Him.... ...In the law ( 1st five books of the Bible ), the Prophets & Psalms. ...HAD TO HAPPEN, as in there was no way it couldn't happen. Luke 24,44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that ALL THINGS MUST BE FULFILLED, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, CONCERNING ME. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: John 10,35 and the scripture CANNOT be broken Now stop for a minute and let the next one really sink in... Acts 3,18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, HE (God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit ) hath so fulfilled. Salvation was pulled off by none other than "God"... ...It says ''God'' fulfilled everything He promised via His Prophets. ...SDA's claim a creature Christ managed to pull it off but might just not have! Think of Simeon for a minute - an old man who was promised by God The Holy Spirit... ...That he would not see death UNTIL he witnessed 'The Christ'. ...Do you realize that as an old man Simeon would have had to continue living until Christ proved. ...That He could "cut the mustard" and not sin! Luke 2,25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; Check your Strong's Gibs - you will find this under the greek word "DEPART"... ..."me who thou hast determined to keep on earth until I had seen the salvation prepared for Israel". Well, according to "GOD" - Simeon had seen Salvation when he beheld the Baby Jesus... ...That's why Simeon asked to be released from his long life! ...If as a Baby Christ could have sinned and lost His Salvation such as Ellen taught. ...Simeon would have been told he had to "stick around" because Jesus might-a-messed up and eternally died! Gimmie-a-break! Even the Book of Daniel ( which SDA's seem to highly venerate ) makes it clear... ...Christ's victory was absolutely CERTAIN, it was as sure as God is sure. Daniel 2,43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. On exactly who's authority did the Prophet Daniel shoot his mouth off like that? ...Boasting that the interpretation he told the king was absolute. ...I will tell you Gibs, the great God of Heaven gave Daniel the authority to say that. And the great God of heaven who is said to know the end from the beginning told us it was IMPOSSIBLE for Christ to sin. The question I have for you is if you will accept that as truth or if you will continue to twist those scriptures in defense of Ellen White so you can continue to have a 19th century woman prophet. I.E. Let God be a liar and Ellen White be true! That's a fraction of the Scriptures I have that back up what I've been saying here for over a year. I would like you to show me where I've read them wrong. Yours in Christ Gibs, Gustave Quote
Gibs Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Those verses have nothing to do with the topic as none make any point whatever that Jesus could not be tempted and fall to sin. It is only God that cannot be tempted. Jesus Christ was a man made of woman in the fullness of time and He overcame Satan as a man taking on Himself the lowliness of us His brethren. Satan saw to it and monitored it closely that He not reach within and use the Divine power of God in Him. He did as we must as our example, obey only the Fathers Spirit dwelling within. We are given that same Spirit when Born again and if we will only allow His Spirit to be the Master in us as Christ did we too can very easily overcome the destroyer. Each of us had better examine ourselves that if we cannot with him state, the evil one has nothing in me since born again, it proves we are not TRULY born anew of His Spirit. It is back to the drawing board with a greater and stronger resolve. We must come to the place where we HATE sin so much that we hold on to Him so close we can walk with Him. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
