ClubV12 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Last month the Philippines was hit with a 7.1 earthquake displacing some 35,000. Due to hit Friday one of the biggest hurricanes ever (typhoon, whateva'). 195 mph winds with gusts over 200. It's 500 miles across, aimed near the center on the country. Evacuations are under way, military standing by, extra food and water being dispersed to critical areas. Whew,,, some folks can't get a break. Quote

ClubV12 Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I remember the discussions we had when Japan got hit with that earthquake. Was it an act of God? Was it punishement? Was it just natural law and these things happen? I note the Japanese Government officials mentioned "God" in their discourse with the people. Their "strange gods", but gods never the less. They were not entirely ignorant of the spiritual application. What we DO know is that "these things" will intensify as the Lords protection is slowly withdrawn. I believe that God holds in check some "natural law events", that didn't happen because He didn't allow them to happen. In other cases because He took specific action to stop the rain for 3.5 years, or make the sun stand still or even move backward. In still other cases the evil doer loves to see people suffer and die and he is allowed to take a more active roll in what appears to be "acts of God". One thing for sure, many people right now and in the days to come, in the Philippines, will be considering their spiritual and eternal condition. While we debate whether or not this was an act of God, the devil or nature. The seven LAST plagues have no redemptive value, they won't spiritually save anyone. But right now, such "plagues" CAN be redemptive. Some will listen, others hearts will grow hard. The forecast on this storm is that many, many deaths will soon follow. Quote
Green Cochoa Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 From CNN News: Quote: With sustained winds of 315 kph (195 mph) and gusts as strong as 380 kph (235 mph), Haiyan was probably the strongest tropical cyclone to hit land anywhere in the world in recorded history. It will take further analysis after the storm passes to establish whether it is a record. Blessings, Green Cochoa. Quote
