These proud sentinels have been used as navigational aids for centuries; armies have fought to control them. The Lighthouse of Alexandria, built in 280 BC, was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We've crisscrossed the country to select 14 of the most wondrous lighthouses across the United States. I make a point of visiting all lighthouses and missions when ever I travel. Living on So Padre, TX the lighthouse at Port Isabel was a favorite place to spend extra time .... and paint a few pictures.
