It is simular to a hypnotist. The Christian either goes into the theater, rents/buys the DVD or watches the program on TV and in so doing lends his or her mind to the writers and directors of the movie. The more we expose ourselves to sin, the less objectionable the sin becomes. The more violence, sexual immorality and vulgarity we expose ourselves to, the less offensive it becomes to us. It is a way the devil entices the Christian, little by little, to walk away from his/her relationship with Christ. Like boiling a frog by putting it in a pot of cool water and slowly bring it to a boil, the Christian doesn't realize he or she is slowly walking away from the saving grace of the lovely Lord Jesus. Hollywood is perhaps the greatest threat to the Christian church today. That said, there are good family-orientated and Christian movies. When these movies go to the theater, Christians should attend so as to encourage the movie industry to make more of them. Such movies shouldn't carry more than a "G" rating so previews seen in the theater shouldn't be objectionable for even the youngest of children. -------------------- WARNING: All includes me. Too much exposure can indeed deaden. On the other hand, too little exposure leads to a distinct loss of touch with reality. We end up like the Victorian's, getting turned on by ankles and by fully clothed very narrow waists. The key is to differentiate sinful from different. The USA disproportionate attitude to nudity and violence simply horrifies me. Janet Jackson flashes a COVERED nipple, and the nation is aghast. I think. What is acceptable and unacceptable in regard to nudity is not as clear, Biblically, as conduct. Sexually, the Bible provides a clear guide as what is acceptable and unacceptable. Norman Byers, N.D. Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 The other day I was watching 3ABN and Dr Bernell Baldwin PHd Neurophysiologists of Wildwood institute, was on. He was talking about the effects of fantasy/TV on the mind. In a nutshell, the more garbage you watch the weaker your will power gets. If you ever have an opportunity to watch him, do it.
