"Going Home"

As the jet quickly covered the miles from Dallas to New Orleans the passengers became more and more anxious. In my mind the words to the old hymn, “In a little while we are going home” kept repeating itself.

You see, most of the passengers had not seen their homes for 6 weeks. They had no idea what to expect. Their anxious anticipation was bringing some to tears and the look in their eyes was indescribable.

The song in my head kept playing, so off key and out of time, I began to hum it. Somehow the lady in the seat next to me picked up on the hymn and began to sing its words. Soon many on the air bus joined in the song. Then we sang “The Saints” As we flew over the rubble that had once been their home(s) they were singing and the tears were flowing.

One day we will all be going to our “real” home. I couldn’t help but think how much more quickly our Lord would appear in the Eastern Sky if we, each one, could somehow have that same anxious anticipation and desire to see our heavenly home as those dear people had to see the remains of their earthly home.

As we approached and they could see the piles of rubble and the roofs of most standing homes covered with blue tarp, I shared my thoughts about going home with my “seat mate” and in a loud voice she said, “Honey I am so tired of this earth, I will do anything to go home with Jesus” Several said, “Amen”

As a side note: I always carry some “Steps to Christ” while I didn’t have enough for everyone who wanted one.,I passed out what I had

This was an important lesson to me. Friends, we don’t have to have a pulpit or a fine education or even a deep understanding of the Bible to preach. The Holy Spirit will give us the words and guide us. We only have to be a willing vessel

Let's go home, together

God Bless,

Naomi

I'd like to see this in the Review. It deserves a larger audience. The submission process is pretty easy. I'd be glad to help.
