Ted Oplinger Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Our liberties may be being eroded away at an increasing rate, but there's no way NPR can legitimately claim we live under a constitutional monarchy, as the USA has never had a royal family of any kind. We DO have several very wealthy families in the US and a political class which THINKS they are above the rest - but this is not royalty; rather, it is protected aristocracy. However, there is too much jockeying for the top position to say we in the US have a royal family. We DO have people who try to act like they are royalty and above both the law and the common person, but it eventually catches up to them.
