Moderators Bravus Posted October 20, 2005 Moderators Posted October 20, 2005 There's no such category for hurricanes, but Wilma, which is apparently headed right for Florida, would be in Category 6 if it existed. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted October 20, 2005 Moderators Posted October 20, 2005 I just visited the Gulf Coast of Florida, which is still devastated from Hurricane Charley more than a year ago. So many buildings were blown out or blown over or totally destroyed. Let's hope Wilma works itself out before it makes landfall.... Amelia Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 She's slowed down now. Pray she slows down even more before landfall Florida. CyberGuy Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Do not forget Hurricane Camille in aug 17-18 1969. It had sustained winds of 210 MPH. The greatest hurricane ever. It hit the Missippi coast and then when over the center of the country and came out again in Virginia. Drew strength from the sea and hit the eastern seaboard with winds of 190 MPH. Now that was a catorgory 7 or 8 if there ever was one. Quote Riverside CA
Paula Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Hey Guys!!! Just wanted to check in before Wilma comes over... it may be a week or so before we have power again, (with Katrina a couple months ago, it was only a 1 and we were without power for nearly a week!!) Please keep us in your prayers... Wilma is just 1 mile per hour short of being a Cat 3. We have Wilma coming from the West, a Jet Stream coming from the Northwest and a Cold front coming from the North... Here in Fort Lauderdale we are on the SouthEast quadrant of the hurricane (the strongest side, so we can add 25mph to the highest windspeed, and thats what our sustained winds will be)... due to the coming together of the jet stream, cold front, hurricane AND being on the southeast quadrant we have been warned that we WILL DEFINETLY have tornadoes, and that we will, in all probability have several F2 Tornadoes (150mph). Having never been through one, I am pretty worried... But I know that we are resting in the Mighty hands of the Father!! We are going to my moms house since it is safer!! Well, I hope to check in with you guys in about a week!!!! Until then, please keep us all in your prayers!!!! Paula Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted October 24, 2005 Administrators Posted October 24, 2005 You're in our prayers. Let us know you are ok, as soon as you can. Naomi Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
