Ten Rabbis Explain God

An embarrassing secret: Jews don’t like to talk about God. We pride ourselves as a religion of action more than belief. But we are much than that. God makes a difference in our lives.

To help show why, I’ve compiled some of the most meaningful statements I’ve encountered. I share it with students and seekers of all faiths. It captures a small slice of Jewish beliefs.

From reading the article it is clear that these Rabbi's are Kabbilistic in nature. When researching some of the Kabbalistic writings, it is clear that the majority of those writings are Kabbalistic. I would go even as far as to echo the words of Dr. Veith when he stated that 'All' are Kabbalistic.

When we read words like "life force" and its comparison to the human body,(Dare I say Reiki?) it is obvioulsy New Age, which interestingly is also Kabbalistic in nature. The words are beautiful, but a careful study will find that it does not coincide with scripture. It is bastardization of scripture, wrapped in just enough truth, to make it believable to those who are not grounded in the word of God.

Yes, I agree, we cannot define God, however, and unfortnatley for them, when we see the Son, we also see the Father - you can make what ever deduction from this statement.

It has to be taken in context. And I am sure that the Lotus Position that a woman was in, in one of the pics was just a bad choice. Someone who throughly loves God and is wanting to lead people to God would want to remove even the most loose pagan/New Age connections.

i really liked this one.

“It is precisely because God has an image that idols are forbidden. You are the image of God. But the only medium in which you can shape that image is that of your entire life. To take anything less than a full, living, breathing human being and try to create God’s image out of it – that diminishes the divine and is considered idolatry.”

Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel statement #8 of 12.
