So when my marriage started getting rocky I Googled "marriage counseling" to find a local counselor. Suddenly every time I used the internet I got slammed with ads for divorce lawyers and dating websites. No marriage counseling ads though. Hmmmm. I guess the divorce lawyers and dating websites figure anyone looking for a marriage counselor is in the market for their services. That is a bit of disturbing reality.

Well, now I have lost or misplaced my wedding ring. I typically only wear it when I go to work so it is not unusual for me to be taking it off. So I started looking to buy a new one online and suddenly I am slammed with jewelry ads every time I log on.

So does that mean the divorce lawyer and dating website ads should go away? I hope so.

Google doesn't know me at all - besides the 'date older women' ads, it's advertising *cars* to me.

It's interesting that there are these links and associations...

And yeah, as Shane notes, some of them are quite disturbing...

I bet there is google data somewhere that says that Australian, dog owning, 40+, motorbike riding professors who post on SDA websites date older women.

The good news is that I found my ring in the washer. Now the fact that I get hammered with Xbox ads must have something to do with my son using this computer.

I'm surprised that you don't have some silver polish ads.....or draino ads.....or bathroom fixture ads.....along with dating mature women ads and car ads....[mid-life crisis]......
