Gus Foster Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 One who remembers their 'Survey of Europe' courses, especially during the 'conquest period' from 970 AD to 1350 AD consisting of feudal bishopric territories enforced by a military presence of semi-scriptural sacramental rites, that they would absorb cultural differences within the Papal system as long as it did not violate church culture and primary doctrines as unity and harmony chants were heralded in Latin. One London author calls it "twin tyrannies of monarchy and Christendom performed by debauched buffoons." Spanish, French, Slav and German rites were supplanted by Latinists enthroning Papal supremacy, enforced by monarchical conquest. Where tolerance existed a favorite saying was; "If he were a Christian, what a marvelous Knight he would be!" During this period Christianity and Islam were 'pushing' against one another, trading territories and brow beating the catechumen into acceptable cultural behavior. Any existing gospel was secondary. History is flooded with the blood of those of absolute power who choose to be intolerant with any who opposed their views and rites. In several different articles and meetings lately I have encountered those who maintain that was a relic of the past and could never exist again, never be prominent again. I consent with another school of thought; one that studies and understands that all current world economies are either formed, endorsed or conducted in unity and harmony by Papal direction and/or influence. Our foundation stalwart would be Revelation 13, 17 & 18 as we see conditional commerce and destruction of all materials of value controlled and enforced by a recycling of those 'dark ages.' The attitude of those who are in a comfort zone that this will not happen in their life time need to reexamine the terrain more astutely. Quote Striving for a better relationship with Him! Gus Foster
ClubV12 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 You know that saying, "Kill them all, let God sort them out". Apparently that came from a Catholic during the crusades. When a soldier hesitated to engage for fear he might be killing a "saint", in his eyes, he asked the Priest what to do. Then came the reply, "Kill them all, God knows His own". Or words to the effect. So it will be again someday,,, as we wait,,, Quote
Gus Foster Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 The first part of the system was cut and dry -- but there was more -- fiefdomism --- this was a complete aristocratic movement, involving dukes, barons, and knights vying for territory. Think of Nazism, Communism, and Capitalism all wrapped up in greed and lust for power using the peasant for a source of income -- taxes, share owners and such. In the east giving Constantinople obeisance and in the west, Rome. As the centuries passed it finally was all Rome. Christianity had become a form of Babylon with only a minority to hold up the gospel to the world. Came the Reformation. And now that is you, if you follow Scripture and live in Christ's righteousness and character. That cycle has come full circle and that same scenario is now being played out in every facet of earth's day to day activities, and with characters of exactly the same character. Anyone feel an urge to share the 3 angel's with anyone? Quote Striving for a better relationship with Him! Gus Foster
Gus Foster Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 couple of mistakes in article -- should be 'with the blood -by- those of absolute power--- who -chose- to be intolerant-- I was working on this at 3 am because a plumber was fixing a broken water main going into my hot water heater--- good time for study--- Quote Striving for a better relationship with Him! Gibs Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Compromise is the norm to day especially when it comes to what the Word actually states. That is what Satan wanted, compromise, he felt he knew what is GOOD better than God, well it is certain that God could not compromise to please Satan and it sure is proved out that God only is GOOD and alone knows good and Satan's idea is pure destruction is proven. Now the time has come that God can close this reign of rebellion and son as He certainly has proven His Case! 1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Quite a few yrs. back the SDA church had a pastor by the name of Joe Crews who wrote a little book, "Creeping Compromise". and it sold many, may still be in a few ABC's Well Joe C. became incapacitated by age and so the ministry was handed to Doug Batchelor. Doug does do pretty well but for us who knew Joe Crews Doug just don't match old Joe. Well the book held back the "creeping compromise somewhat but not for long, it is now with us big time. We must get away from having any thought that God will compromise in the slightest degree. He does not change or we could not trust Him! Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. LifeHiscost Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Quote: We must get away from having any thought that God will compromise in the slightest degree. God doesn't, but men fallen in nature are persuaded by the enemy of souls, just a little change won't hurt. We have this to give those of us who know we don't measure up, this to give us confidence despite our lack, if we are not deliberately trying to avoid His commandments. "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. " Ephesians 2:4-9 NKJV Quote: The Third Angel’s Message in Verity—Several have written to me, inquiring if the message of justification by faith is the third angel’s message, and I have answered, “It is the third angel’s message in verity.”—The Review and Herald, April 1, 1890. {Ev 190.3} God cares! Gibs Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Remember though, Presumption is not faith! So many it seems to me are standing on presumption when the Word of God is so clear even a fifth grader with understanding can grasp. Faith will produce the works of faith, presumption produces nothing! Just as True Love fulfills the Law as it is the law of the heart. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Just as True Love fulfills the Law as it is the law of the heart. However it appears from many of the remarks on CA, some are capable of determining for others where they have presumed. Wouldn't that be classified under "judged". We might know it is not what we might feel comfortable doing. We know not the spiritual maturity of another Jesus has fully accepted, despite their immaturity. God saves! Jesus cares! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 21, 2013 Moderators Posted December 21, 2013 A general comment made to all: Life is often a compromise in which no one get all and all have something to dislike. This will occur for a long as there are people who have to relate to each other and they differ. One group wants to paint the room red and another group wants to paint it blue. So, they compromise and paint it purple. NOTE: I was once a pastor involved in deciding what colors to paint the church. Yes, there are issues which have moral value and one should take a stand. But, all to often we tend to take stands on issues that do not have that moral grounding. One can see this in the current political climate and the recent budget compromise. Each group has something to dislike in the compromise. But, they came together in agreement that there was one common goal--preventing a soon to be shut down of the government--that was more important that getting everything that they wanted. We sometimes see this in the life of the SDA Church today. Our members are not united in every aspect of doctrine and life style. Yes, we should have standards. Yes, there are times when we should make decisions. And, yes there are times when we should leave the decisions to God. Quote Gregory
