No! And for me it is an emphatic NO! The word theology is from theory. There is no theory to it, all one needs is the Master teacher and He is always available to all.

He is the Spirit of truth, the comforter! The Master of all truth teachers! Yes again He is ALWAYS AVAILABLE!

And so many Christians listen to well known theologians and take what they teach as the sure meaning of what the Word says without fully scrutinizing the Word and asking God in Jesus name for His Spirit to open the Word to them as what He wants them to understand from it.

It is foolish to allow any man to do your perception of what the Word says to you and settle it in the heart to believe it.

Just a few verses on this Teacher,

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Joh 14:18 ¶ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Mt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I reckon I don't mind it much.

For sure and none should when we have such a wonderful promise of the Wonderful Spirit of Truth.

It is one of the most precious promises in the Bible to us and to the end of the World!

Paul states it this way,

Col 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Col 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

I dearly love that and the promise is so absolutely sure, it is just Wonderful and that is who He is, Wonderful!

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

That is not the background for the word "theology."

The word "theology" comes from two Greek words. The first is the Greek word Theos which references what we say in English "God."

The second is the Greek "logy" which means in English, "to study."

From those two we get the word "theology" which means "to study God."

Yes Greg, but the problem is it still comes out as a theologians theory and it is not needed that we follow men. We don't want any hits and misses and with men, that is what you will get!

We want the one and only true Guide that is always available to ALL, the wonderful Spirit of truth, the comforter, Jesus Christ.

He has promised He will guide us into ALL truth, so what more could we ask for.

The premise behind the word "theology" is the individual studying God.

You came across to me as saying that you did not believe in personally studying God.

Greg, you took me all wrong, that is my thrust, study the Word for yourself and ask in Jesus name for His Spirit of Truth to guide you into all truth of His Word to you.

And we must let him guide, self must be kept down, preconceived ideas laid aside and an ear for His Voice in the mind and heart!

He talks to me continually and will to any who truly believe! We need to walk and talk with Him all the time, every moment and it will become more and more critical that we do.

Oh we are so weak and He is so strong, we are nothing without Him against the foe! When we walk alone we are easily taken.

Yes it is a surety that all one needs is His Spirit of Truth and we must have Him dwelling within in taking up His Word if we are to ascertain exactly what He intended when giving it.

We must have that one and same Holy Spirit that the Holy Word was given by or what we ascertain from it would be our little idea.

Yes and I got my dictionary out and one meaning of theology is theorizing and of course, depending on what spirit it came by it might be right or wrong!

Now when it is of His Spirit of Truth, it is no longer theology but dead on Truth!

Sister White writes,

"We must have the truth on every point. And we must hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm unto the end. We are to draw near to God, and then he will draw near to us. The God of heaven gave his Son to redeem us, and we are to become partakers of the divine nature, that we may be vessels unto honor, fit for the Master's use. {SW, March 1, 1904 par. 2}

"I want you to understand that Christ said that you shall be brought before kings and rulers to answer for your faith. If it is so that you are to be brought in before kings and rulers you want a clear brain. You want to understand what is truth and practice it. We must prepare for what is coming upon us. We must have the truth in wrought in nerve, in brain, in soul, in body. {SpM 358.3}

This could be an interesting discussion if there is a willingness to consider it from all relevant angles.

Hvat other written source than Scripture does Ellen White refer to as strengthening our trust?

What was the general attitude of many of our pioneers towards church order?

What changed this attitude and with what consequences?

No theology is accepted when it comes to the Word of God. If one wants the truth of what God is saying to him then the only recourse is to have the same Spirit within that that precious Word was given by.

That is the Spirit of truth, the Comforter, Jesus Christ and without Him we can do nothing. If He isn't the light to illuminate His Word then you are surrounded in darkness!

Why look to any of men to explain His Word when He, the Spirit of truth is available to ALL 24 hrs. a day and seven days a wk. continually.

He is well able to attend to the over 7 billion in this world if they just would apply to Him, He is not limited in any way!

Take note that EGW only had a third grade education and yet her writings are far above any and all of any other of men when it comes to staying with the Truth of His Word. Who was her teacher? It was none other than the Spirit of Truth that she had invited in and heard Him above all.

"I must have the Spirit of God in my heart. I can never go forward to do the great work of God, unless the Holy Spirit rests upon my soul. "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God" (Psalm 42:1). The day of judgment is upon us. Oh, that we may wash our robes of character, and make them white in the blood of the Lamb!--Review and Herald, April 21, 1891. {YRP 295.3}
