The minor was busted by Dayton cops after a witness called 911 to report an assault in progress at Rose’s Store. The victim, 60-year-old Barbara Weeks, told investigators that the boy punched her after she would not make the purchase. Weeks told police that her grandson tried to land a second blow, but she fled from him to escape being hit again. The child, who was not identified by police, was charged with domestic violence and transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Justice Center. It is unclear whether the boy was seeking the toy as a Christmas present. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. olger Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 This "grandmother" certainly isn't very grand according to the advertisements that equate spending with love. After all, if January comes and your credit cards aren't maxed out -- you could become most wanted on the Grinch suspect list!! So shell out that wallet, and flex some plastic Bro -- there are wants wants and more wants all around you. the G! Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

bonnie Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 And this is what happens when you are no longer allowed to spank kids. Maybe the parents of this 11 year old need a spanking or a few hours visiting the prisons to see where their child has a good chance of ending up. This started long before the child reached this age. Very young children can understand NO. A 1 year old child can understand that word and that it means,"you can't have","Don't touch" "You are not to do that".They may not understand why,but they can understand mom and dad is in control and that is end of story. Some of the parents and their children that I witnessed coming into the store were beyond belief.Children as young as three were screaming and punching their parents when they were denied something. Yelling at their parents that they hated them and hoped they would die.The parents, rather than being embarrassed or appalled at their behavior would just smile and tell the little angel he was just tired and upset and didn't mean it. At that age my boys would not have even known to say something like that. Given a few years and hearing on the news their child committed a vicious crime all say "He was always such a good boy/girl,I don't understand what happened" Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Aliensanctuary Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Quote: And this is what happens when you are no longer allowed to spank kids. Unfortunately, it's not so much the fault of the misbehaving children as it is the parent's. They have failed in their responsibility as parents to raise unselfish, considerate, and polite human beings. Likely, their own behaviors are reflected in their children. Beating an out-of-control child is not the best way to correct them, rather, counseling and mentoring of both parents and child might produce better results. Beatings and spankings are not the same act. The parents did fail and spanking at this point without a drastic change in parental responsibility will not have much effect. Administrators Naomi Posted December 20, 2013 Administrators Posted December 20, 2013 There is a little thing called 'respect' that is often left out in the family circle. Proper respect must be earned, often it's not the child's fault as the parents don't practice proper respect for their elders or each other. OTOH, I mentioned this article to my granddaughter. She laughed a small chuckle and said Quote: that would never happen in our family. I asked why, she said Quote: 'cause none of us want to die!!! In the following discussion, she said, if you didn't bust us, Mom or Dad would. Further discussion was on the subject of how many spankings she/they had from any of us. Almost none ... she said, "we just know" So how do we raise them so they 'just know' Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Members phkrause Posted December 20, 2013 Members Posted December 20, 2013 We had a little code for our kids. Do you want to go outside and TALK about this. The answer was always No. Very few trips outside were necessary. We also did that with our daughter. It worked as long as she was under our roof, wont go into detail what I mean by that at this time. The problem I see with that now is if we take our children outside and spank them, others see this and report it to authorities and than they coming knocking, telling us we can't do that, etc., etc. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 20, 2013 Moderators Posted December 20, 2013 I was once teaching a class that consisted of 155 clergy persons. This subject came up in a discussion and one of the clergy persons stated that as a child he had often been spanked with a 2 x 4 piece of lumber and survived it. I will say that there is an appropriate spanking and there is inappropriate spanking. Spanking is often the least effective means of control. When spankings turn into beatings people should be charged and face the consequences. Quote Gregory

Administrators debbym Posted December 21, 2013 Administrators Posted December 21, 2013 there are too many variables and too many possibilities and factors to know much from this story. we do not know what the relationship of this grandmother is, nor the condition of the kid's family, the child's life pain, or even the role of addictions in the family. we do not know if the kid is on medications, or if violence was modeled as the solution when you are emotionally loaded, if the grandmother was playing mental games, or provoking, or if the child is pathological, or just a good kid pushed beyond his self control. we just do not know much except the public violence of this family .
