Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 3, 2014 Members Posted January 3, 2014 "Buddy Benches" are used in Germany at some schools for kids on the playground to go to if they feel lonely. Once sitting there, other children will come up and befriend the child on the bench. The concept has caught on in at a school in Pennsylvania. Maybe we need some "Buddy Pews" at churches.... story on the "buddy benches" Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
thx4mercy Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Maybe we need some "Buddy Pews" at churches.... Awhhh! Yes! At least it would be a good way to know who needs to be reached out to. Quote
Administrators debbym Posted January 3, 2014 Administrators Posted January 3, 2014 this touches my heart that the kids are given an ok healthy way of letting others know they have a need and are given support to be open to others helping them with it. wow wow wow bring it to our churches yes. Administrators Gail Posted January 4, 2014 Administrators Posted January 4, 2014 Makes me wonder if we should have some buddy forums. I'm game! Seems similar to the thread the McQueens had going years ago, where we could go to chill and get some encouragement. I miss Fifi and David here! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Wouldn't that be a GREAT link to post on the internet? Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. She had a picture on fb and has lost some weight and looks awesome!! Back to the 'buddy forum' idea. I am certainly not against anything that will give someone a sense of community; only have one question: We are a Christian forum, correct? Then why should it be necessary to have a separate forum ... what is wrong with practicing the Golden Rule? Or, "Love one another as Christ loved us?"John 13:34 ... in no way am I making an assessment of anyone's conduct ... most of all I am talking to myself! Just thinking out loud ............... Perhaps M.T. could moderate a Buddy Forum Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
onebeecee Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi I wouldn't mind a buddy. But please remember I'm liberal, a questioner, a thinker, and openminded. So if someone is willing... I don't know the way to do this, but I'm sure you will Quote Psalms19:12-14 Lord my saviour

Administrators Gail Posted February 15, 2014 Administrators Posted February 15, 2014 I hear what you're saying, Naomi, but I am getting the idea that the "buddy" forum would be somewhere a member could go for a hug, a chat, a piece of apple pie or some high fives. We could do that in the other fora (and many do) but most are about the business of discussion. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
CoAspen Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 A 2th grader here in Henderson, Co heard about the story and worked with Home Depot to get one installed at his school. A very cool story. Quote

Administrators Gail Posted February 15, 2014 Administrators Posted February 15, 2014 Precisely, that was what I was thinking, too. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
