NAFTA - 20 years later

20 years ago, the North American Free Trade Act started to come into existence.

What did that mean?

It meant that the taxes I paid to have avocados imported into Canada from California or Mexico began to drop.

I found it interesting that making avocados 10 cents cheaper was going to invoke Sunday laws, riots, and the rest of the last day events. It may have even been the cause of gay marriages, global warming, and the demise of Canadian Polar Bears.

The 17.5% tax on imported Loma Linda vegefood was eliminated, lowing the price, and providing more disposable income for adventists.

Supposedly close to 700,000 American jobs have been lost thanks to NAFTA. I don't know the stats for Canada.

I like to see the stats for that. Before Bush left office, I thought they were saying if not for that, many more jobs would've been lost!!

That's true, we had temps in the single digits these past two days, but just 4/5 days ago, we had 50 degree temps and it melted most of the snow from the previous 2 days.
