Benjamin Sunderland came west on the Oregon Trail in 1851 and was amongst the first settlers in Portland. The Portland International Airport is located on a portion of the original Sunderland land claim. Benjamin's grandfather, John Cuppy, was a scout/spy for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He lived to be 100 (which is why I also have a photo of him!!)
