Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted January 16, 2014 Moderators Posted January 16, 2014 For an interesting take on this, read the following: http://www.military.com/daily-news/2014/...?ESRC=army-a.nl That website will tell you that females in the military are injured at a greater rate than males for certain specific injuries. But, read it to the end: It will tell you that with the proper training toward physical fitness the excess female injury rate can be reduced. NOTE: I am not stating my personal opinion on this. I simply post it as an interesting bit of information. But, plesae read it through to the end. Quote Gregory
Administrators Naomi Posted January 16, 2014 Administrators Posted January 16, 2014 Quote: But the solution is not to keep certain specialties or units closed to women, he said, but to make them better prepared and fit to succeed without sacrificing standards. At Parris Island, S.C., one of the Corps' two boot camps, officials brought in a fitness trainer who had worked with the Carolina Panthers football team to help improve training and avoid injuries, he said, 4 years ago both of my granddaughters joined the Marines and trained at Parris Island ... no significant injuries. Several of the guys who joined with them did/have sustained serious injuries ... the girls trained long and hard prior to going to Parris Island, can't speak for the guys. I do believe the key is not male/female but the physical condition when the rigorous training begins. As for female military service ... would not have been my choice for them. Members phkrause Posted January 16, 2014 Members Posted January 16, 2014 Great article. thanks for the post. I'd also say one big thing is that, at least when I went to gym class, is physical ed was much more rigorus(sp) for the boys than the girls. My feeling is up to a certain point girls can do as well as boys. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
