Gus Foster Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I have completed four articles for a presentation of Church Tolerance -- they are in order: Preface, Church, Tolerance and One Head Mortally Wounded found on my website-- www.christrevealedinyou.com In is my hope that you will share this with your contacts -- In is time all churches be held responsible and accountable for all interpretation and teaching of Scripture and that everything must pass through the scrutiny of the gospel, and, all responses; past, present and future. Gus Foster Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Well now --three hours in ten minutes -- good challenge-- Preface to Church Tolerance -- In the conquest period between 970 and 1350 AD territories consisting of feudal bishopric areas enforced church semi-scriptural rites by military presence. Spanish, French, Slavic, and German cultures were supplanted by Latinists enthroning Papal supremacy. Where tolerance did exist a favorite saying was, “If he were a Christian, what a marvelous Knight he would be!” During this period Christianity and Islam were ‘pushing’ against one another, trading territories and brow beating the catechumen into acceptable cultural behavior. Any existing gospel was secondary. History is flooded with the blood caused by those of absolute power who choose to be intolerant with any who opposed their views and rites. Adding to the formation of this Babylon was the emergence of fiefdom, barons, dukes and knights contending for land (i.e. carpetbaggers) as wealth became control of real estate and income from peasants. Getting a nod from Constantinople in the East and Rome in the West was a prize worth obtaining through any method and sacrifice scavenged from these ‘men with a hoe.’ Church Tolerance -- An Oxymoron -- Markham's poem Man With A Hoe basically represents the condition of the peasant whose share cropping financed these church and feudal lords. For a Biblical insight of fulfilling the prophecy of the end time accounts one sees this peasant forced to change worship beliefs and rites as each lord, both church and state, changed power with conquering factions. A study and fulfillment of Daniel, Revelation and Jesus' prophetic statements is essential to follow this pattern through the centuries. We can research historical records to illustrate how individuals and whole reformation efforts were squelched, devastated and slaughtered for personal gain and church supremacy. Tolerance Begets Compromise -- Intolerance Begets Devastation As we take a trip from the first century through the 18th century we see how the church accumulated bits a pieces of false doctrine, pagan and cult practices and substituted characters from Scripture and planted them into accepted lifestyles. John Bunyan stated, " I have used similitudes," and so did I using Jesus' trip from Bethany to Jerusalem over the Mt of Olives during passion week. Century by century we see how individuals and circumstance adds to the setting we see in Revelation 13, 17 & 18. One Head Mortally Wounded -- This is an account of the same scenario from 1798 to the present and how so many other factions contributed to our present status in which Jesuits control all of the global economy and all the governments of the world with the exception of four; Iran, Cuba and two others. It sets the stage for what is about to happen in the next short period of history yet to be unfolded and the second Advent. The emphasis of this entire program is to show that Jesus and His recorded Word is the only hope for any suggestion of eternal life and the incredible gospel as prophesied pointing to this advent. To state the contents in this already greatly truncated presentation for a weeks presentation at Oxford University is not within my capabilities. I really have no quick read to this monumental effort. Quote Striving for a better relationship with Him! Gus Foster
Gus Foster Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Salutations: Heartfelt thanks to all who have encouraged to and aided in my trip to Brasenose and Harris Manchester Colleges at Oxford University in Oxfordshire, England on the week of March 22 this year. I was selected for invitation for participation in the round table symposium on the subject of Tolerance in the Church because of my thirty years of leading out in an international Bible study and international literature translation and distribution, plus the promotion of my website for many years - www.christrevealedinyou.com . Part of that story is in the article on that site, Christ Revealed in You. The four articles for my presentation are the top four in the website -- Preface, Church, Tolerance and One Head Wounded; in that order. There have been corrections and changes in these articles since posting, mostly cosmetic. My synopsis of thesis is simple; those who complied with Scripture were true followers of Christ, those who formed and followed traditions by influence from pagan, cult or formed interpretation, visions, insights or imaginings became an anti-christ. Paul in the 60's and John in the 80's/90's stated these insertions were occurring in 'church' even in their day, the first century AD. From that time on my presentation documents a person by person, century by century addition to church and worship practices where pagan and occult personalities replaced Biblical characters. The claim was that the same Holy Spirit that inspired Biblical authors also inspired the added church traditions. Those who followed the Bible only were generally tolerant, following Jesus' teaching for unconditional love, while those who claimed equality with Scripture and tradition were not just intolerant, but made every effort to eliminate the vermin heretics from the earth in a 'scorched earth' policy. Activity in the 16th century such as formation of the Jesuit, the Council of Trent, the inquisition, and the public destruction of The Printed Word launched the fiercest physical attack by the Papacy and the Holy Roman Empire (Rev 13, 17 & 18) since the Roman Empire's war on Christians. Although many of these policies were aimed at Jews and Moslems it always included Bible only followers. Added to church accepted practices and rites were the cults and so-called secret societies of the 18th -20th centuries and their monopoly of finances as they had infiltrated ALL government, royalty and church leadership. This was presented from a historicist prophetic interpretation which subscribed to a year/day principal. It is true that some current scholars have moved past that to a more modern application but I have maintained that the complete reformation during church history relied on that barometer to attain a tradition free, Scripturally led Christ-like character and worship practices. (Matt 25; delay) I sincerely believe that the last day message is the affirmation of the gospel in the fullest, purest and simplest form, the birth, life, death, resurrection and present ministry of our Lord, Savior, and Sustainer, Jesus Christ, the Living Son of God. That never negates one's responsibility of identifying the false gospel and entreating accountability for life changes to embrace eternal life. I covet your prayers and opportunity to share -- GUS FOSTER "We should never be conscious of one moment outside of the will of Jesus."
