Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 20, 2014 Members Posted February 20, 2014 from Jarrid Wilson, pastor, blogger... 22 Oct 2013 Blog 1. Telling people “I’ll pray for you” without actually praying for them. 2. Attending Church on Sunday [or Saturday] but ignoring God’s voice the rest of the week. 3. Praying for God’s provision when we have yet to use what he has already provided. 4. Trying to be so relevant that we actually hurt the message of Jesus. 5. Telling people that “God will never give you anything you can’t handle.” Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
LifeHiscost Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 ..."and why?", might keep this thread going, not meaning to intimate any lack. God/Jesus saves! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
CoAspen Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 #5 is the most overused statement and erroneous. Does God give people cancer, heart attacks, traffic accidents, etc....etc? The text that it is based on was not meant to imply the above that people most often use it for. Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted February 21, 2014 Administrators Posted February 21, 2014 CoAspen, amen & amen Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Igakusei Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Careful with #4; religions that don't adapt to stay relevant to changing society will eventually go the way of Hellenism and Zoroastrianism. Unless of course they change society sufficiently to suit themselves, but so far that appears to only ever be a temporary solution. Quote I believe in life before death
Tallmark Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I like to tell people "I prayed for you." That way, it would be extremely hard to lie because in a way, I'd be lying to God. Makes it more difficult for me. If I hadn't prayed for them, I wouldn't say anything. Makes me get off my duff and onto my knees more. Believe me, I need it! Quote
